Q: stripe on nose?
This is a strange thing I've observed on Frank now and then. As most of you
probably know, Frank has a pink nose. Every now and then, a stripe along the top of the pink appears. It's a brownish stripe. Sometimes it's only a pin-stripe, barely perceptible to a worried Meowmie's eyes, but the other day it was thick (about half a millimetre (0.02 inches?)). Sometimes there is no stripe at all. I'm wondering what it can be. The first thing that came to mind was some sort of blood clot that gathers at the top of his nose. When he had the thick stripe, I rubbed his nose and a while later the stripe was gone. It wasn't some smut *on* his nose, it was under the skin. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I think it's time to make an appointment with TED. It's about time for Frank to have a thorough check-up. After all, he will be 17 in November. I just wanted to check if anyone here had any similar experiences. -- Marina, Frank and Nikki Email marina (dot) kurten (at) pp (dot) inet (dot) fi Pics at http://uk.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/frankiennikki |

I wonder if it's related to blood pressure or some other variable. Does it seem to appear only when he's active, or sleeping too? It could be just one of those things that appears on older cats, too. Cherokee had black flecks in the colored parts of his eyes, and I fretted about them. The vet said they were nothing to worry about, and only appear in cats whose ages are double digits. Thanks for taking my question seriously, though. I have one pink-nosed kitty, but haven't seen anything like that - she is still fairly young though, just 6, so if it's age related it wouldn't show up. I would think maybe blood pressure? Definitely talk to the vet about it. There ARE no dumb questions when it comes to the health of our babies, you don't know what weird symptom my give the vet a clue to a problem early enough to do something about it. Hugs, CatNipped |
