My husband and I (3 packs a day and 2 packs, respectively) went to a
hypnotist. Do I think it worked? No, frankly I don't. What I DO think
worked was when I made the appointment with the hypnotist, he had me make it
for 6 weeks in the future, and he told me to smoke my brains out until the
appointment. And every time I lit one, I said to myself, "thank God I won't
have to do this much longer!". By the time the appointment came, I was
relieved to quit.

I ate my favorite flavors of Lifesavers, as many as I wanted, for weeks.
Stayed away from behaviors that "went" with cigarettes (drinking coffee and
alcohol, especially!)

It was hard, but it was worth it. You have NO idea how offensive you smell.
(You'll see what I mean!) Best of luck!

Ok, now that we have at least two or three on the nicotine wagon, we can
all pool our quitting tips, and maybe help out.

When I was quitting, I ate sunflower seeds. In the shell. One at a
time. Used my ashtrays to hold the shells. It kept my hands and my
mouth busy. Kids hated it, but hated the cigarettes more. I still eat
sunflower seeds, but not nearly as much as I used to. I also increased
cross stitching and other needlework. It also kept my hands busy and
occupied my mind.

OK, your Tip?

Since you brought up "offensive smell" of smokers, no one else has mentioned
a thrill people have commented on over the years to me......a non-smoker who
kisses a smoker!
The non-smokers say it's just like kissing an ashtray......

Oh, I've thought about that plenty. My DH never smoked. (He doesn't drink
alcohol or coffee, either. The man has no vices. It's disgusting)
Anyway. I don't know how he put up with me all those years.
