OT - Away - Update
I'm glad to hear it was basically a false alarm, and very impressed that you
were out of the ER so quickly. -- Joy Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference. "CatNipped" wrote in message ... Yes, it was an echocardiogram (which, by my experience at least, differs from a regular only in the length of time they take (I guess they have to factor out the heartbeats so need to look at it for ten times as long). Here is a good article on it if you're interested - http://www.heartsite.com/html/echocardiogram.html. They also did the EKG and a chest x-ray. They were able to determine that the blood clot in my left ventricle has gotten much smaller since my last cardiac MRI (which is a *lot* different from a regular MRI and takes 10 times as long with a lot more breath holding). One thing that expedited my stay there is that the this hospital's chief of cardiology is my cardiologist and my PCP has privileges there so they had easy access to all my files, prior tests and history. Since I'd *LONG* ago passed my out-of-pocket limit, it was relatively painless and gave me a good update on where my heart/clot is now (it's been a month or more since my last visit which helped them track the rate of healing and dissolution of the clot), and I'm hoping to be able to quit taking the Warfarin fairly soon (and won't have to push away kneading cats when I've fallen behind in claw clipping). -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.com/rpcablog/ "Winnie" wrote in message ... I know, I don't think I've ever been so quickly seen in an ER - much less
all the tests they did. It had to have been a slow day and, as I mentioned, the chief of cardiology there is my doctor so he had everything there already. Still that has to be a record time in the ER - I had to wait for over 6 hours when I shattered my wrist (and my arm and hand were swollen to more than twice their size so they knew it wasn't something minor). I guess it was a good thing that my heart was OK, the shock of that kind of efficiency in an ER might have stopped it! ; -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.com/rpcablog/ "Joy" wrote in message . .. By 1:30 in the morning, I was in IC at the University Hospital after a two hour ambulance ride. Apparently my prostate cancer has spread and is trying to kill me. This time, it didn't succeed. -- Ted Davis ) |

I'm so sorry to hear that, Ted. Mega healing purrs coming your way.
Fortunately, my symptoms turned out to be only a scare. Good luck, and please let us know how things go. -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.com/rpcablog/ "Ted Davis" wrote in message ... My friend George just went through this kind of cancer surgery and has been
cancer free for a year. They can get it. Purrs and prayers. "CatNipped" wrote in message ... I'm so sorry to hear that, Ted. Mega healing purrs coming your way. My brother has prostate cancer. He had the radioactive chip implanted and
we're hoping that will kill it. Cancer is a terrible disease, with harsh cures to endure. I wish good luck to anyone who has to go through that. -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.com/rpcablog/ "Granby" wrote in message ... It's possible to survive cancer. I did.
It's past 5 years now since they took that tumour away on my ovary. By the time they operated it was the size of a baby. I had to borrow maternity clothes I'm still here. Lots of luck Ted. Don't always believe what they tell you. I was told to prepare to die. So I did. Tweed "Granby" wrote in message ...
