Default Two packages

I fetched two packages from the post office today.

The first package was from Dan. Besides two pouches of soft treats to
hide pills in, it contained a packet of 3 mousies (white-grey-black) and
a packet of catnip. All the stuff was inside a Petco bag, and the bag
must have smelled strongly of catnip, because Frank buried his head
inside it and it was hard to get it away from him. So I gave him a hit
of 'nip. This apparently gave him some much needed Dutch courage,
because he attacked Miranda and they even wrestled for a while. Frank
has always been a 'mean drunk,' and I'm thinking if I give him a little
'nip every day, Miranda may learn to respect him. Neither cat was hurt
in the confrontation.

The second package came from the crematorium and contained Nikki's
ashes. It was a nice cardboard urn containing a little plastic bag with
the ashes. It was a shock to see my sweet girl reduced to that small
pile of ashes, and obviously a very emotional moment. I repacked the urn
and put it away so Miranda doesn't get into it.

Thalia's ashes may come back this week. I have plans to put her's.
Castor's and Gemma's in a raised flower bed that is right outside my
dining room. On sunny days this spot can be bathed in sunlight from
early morning until early evening. Thalia liked warm places :^) Also,
it is closest to the part of the house where I spend much of my time; it
is where I pass by when I leave and come back home and where Sylvia and
Ebony can often be found sitting.

Maybe you have plans to lay Nikki to rest on her island ?

Yes, I'm planning to scatter the ashes out on the island.

To which I add more

{{{{{Marina}}}}}.

I did not get Isadora's ashes back, as I didn't think I could bear it. The
notice from the pet cemetary telling me she had been comunally cremated
made me cry hard enough. My friend's cat, Bapu, sometimes got seizures in
his old age. I happened to see one of these once, and it was frightening to
witness. I'm not surprised that Nikki's seizure upset you as badly as it
did.
Just know you will not feel this intense grief forever, Marina. Your
loss is still new and this is the hardest time. It will gradually become
easier to bear. Nikki was loved and a lucky girl to have had you for her
hoomin.

I remember when we picked up out Quetzie in a box after he died during
surgery. It was a little before 6am and I cried the whole ride back to
the apartment. When we got there, it was still dark, but we started
digging a hole in a beautiful section of the garden. We buried our baby
boy just as the sun started coming out. It was very hard for me putting
the box down in the hole, even though I knew my Quetzie was not really
there, it was just his body.
Lots of purrs for you.
