Grooming ecstasy
Does anyone else's feline friend absolutely LOVE being groomed? Otis
drools when I do it, and raises his back like a... well you get the picture! I have short hair and don't use a hairbrush so I have donated my very expensive Mason & Pearson hairbrush to him, and the minute it comes out he lies down and starts rolling his eyes up. My partner couldn't find the brush one day and so groomed him with a fairly hard and coarse shoe brush, and he loved it even more! I like to groom him in the garden so get rid of the fluff easier, and I've seen birdies take it away (it is a sackful each time) to build their nests, how ironic is that? Marcia |

Fin used to love it, and came running over and laid down on the floor
as soon as I brought out the grooming glove. However, Rita HATES it. I'm getting her trained so I don't have to hold her down to do it (Got allergies, MUST brush cat!), so she gets a lot of treats when she lets me do it. Now when Topaz was visiting, brushing her was the way I calmed her down in the evenings. I'd put her on the couch and brush her until she fell asleep, purring. She loved being brushed. Jake always liked to be groomed. But since I got the Zoom Groom he is
simply wild about it. Goes around trying to trip me so I'll brush him. Jo wrote in message oups.com... Does anyone else's feline friend absolutely LOVE being groomed? Pan tolerates it, as he feels better and his coat looks better after
I've given him a brushing. He's power shedding these days. The poor old guy has a hard time grooming himself, anymore, unless he does it when I'm not looking. He's getting fairly creaky and arthritic. So his coat is looking a little moth-eaten if I don't give him some help. I bought a Kong Zoom Groom, I also have a smaller rubber brush that operates on the same principles although it's not as flexible. Francesca will put up with the smaller brush as she too is power shedding at this point. But when I tried the Kong Zoom Groom on her, she started bending herself away from it in a most amazing way. It was almost like trying to brush a liquid cat. =o) The message was clearly "Ew! Don't touch me with that!" Since Cesca is young and supple enough to pretzelate herself in order to groom the hard to reach spots, I just give her a few quick swipes now and then to get rid of the excess hairs. Nina appears to like being brushed quite a lot. She won't keep STILL, but she doesn't runn away while I try to do it. From the hair I harvest from the three of them, I could almost knit a pride of lions. Melissa |

I trained Doc (RB) to like being brushed by brushing him a little while he
was eating, starting when he was a kitten. He never liked to be picked up or handled, but he loved being brushed. Rebecca's foster mom gave me the Zoom Groom Rebecca was used to. I thought I'd really prefer to use a different kind of brush, until I found out how much she likes the ZG. When I walk toward the closet I keep it in, she comes running over to see if I'm going to get it out. If I do, she immediately heads for the spot on the sofa where we sit to do the grooming. She lies on one side, stretching and pressing against the brush, then switches to the other side, then back and forth until she has had enough grooming, upon which she trots off to do other things. Rebecca doesn't like being handled, either, but she loves this. Sandy wrote in message oups.com... Does anyone else's feline friend absolutely LOVE being groomed?
