Default Bird in basement

The other morning the cats were hanging around the basement door and trying
to look under it. They are not allowed down there as we use the basement as
a work shop. HD says to Abby, Do you want to see what's down there and picks
her up. He opens the door and there is a bird flying around. Cats eyes get
real big as the bird flies past them. Peter opens the outside door and goes
down the stairs to chase the bird out, still holding Abby. The bird flies
past them again and out the door. Abby had a lot to say about her trip to
the basement. I don't know how it got in. Peter thinks it happened when we
were moving things into the basement but I don't think so as I was down
there after that and I didn't see the bird.

Do you have a fireplace in your basement?

I don't have a fireplace. I have no idea how the bird got in. We looked for
an opening when we had a squirrel in there about a year and a half ago and
never found one.
