Bosco's ordeal
I took Bosco in last week for lack of appetite and learned his kidneys
are in failure mode. Since then he's had to put up with me syringing food in, and subcut fluids twice a day, we've taken him off antibiotics in case that was interfering with his appetite. He's such a cuddlebug and everyone loves him for his good nature, I'd hate to lose him, so if anyone has some advice on how to deal with a cat in renal failure I'd appreciate comments, and purrs. Thanks, Norm http://pets.webshots.com/photo/25638...26431655ALsyRX |

Thanks, Norm If his kidneys have just started to go downhill, you might have him for quite a while if he's fed a diet made for cats with renal failure, and if you give him the subq fluids frequently. (You might not always have to do it twice a day once he's stabiliezed, but if that's what it takes, then that could be a huge help.) Lots of people have kept their elderly cats alive and pretty healthy by giving them regular fluids. http://pets.webshots.com/photo/25638...26431655ALsyRX He is a beautiful boy. And so are all your others! I've seen your photo album before, but I looked through it again just now. What a great bunch, and they seem to get along so well. Love the one of them in the car. Purrs for everyone, Joyce -- To reply privately, take the X's out of my user ID. |
