So far we haven't given him a li'l pink sock, but we do provide him with lots of top quality cat food and bowls of water, sometimes three or four times a day! |

Yes, number thirteen ... if he ever decides to let me handle him. He's a gray and white intact feral tom who lives under my workshop, and plays and hunts with some of my twelve cats. -- T.E.D. ) |

I, too, used to have a Mooch in my life. Regretably, she passed of a cancerous tumor in the right side of her mouth. Equally regretably, I have no pics to share, though describing her as a tortoise shell with green eyes should suffice. My Mooch was an extremely pleasant companion. She carried herself with an air of great presence, and liked me so much that sometimes she would start to purr just because I looked at her. My family--I was not yet out of high school when she passed--did our best to make her comfortable, but the inevitable happened. At first, we thought it might be an infection, and tried to treat her with antibiotics. Somehow, the prescription that we filled had a *sweetener* added to the pink fluid in the vial-- we could smell it. I can only surmise that the combination of the flavor of mold and of whatever the sweetener was produced a mix whose flavor was far more vile than either would have been alone. It reached the point where the poor baby would only have to get a single glance of the vial before she turned tail and ran. I choose to remember her as she lived--perhaps not the sharpest tool in the shed, but heartful and with true presence. Perhaps you could grant her the favor of purrs for her soul. |

We do, to all the Mooches of the world. Especially the homeless Mooches. |

I gotta say, Jeff, welcome to the group. I enjoyed reading Baha's
stories of Fritzie and The Prophet and it's nice to be able to read the words of The Prophet directly! It sounds like you and your feline companions have a mutually wonderful understanding of each-other. Tish |

A Tale of Two Mooches
I loved Mooch; I think she was my favorite of the Mullen family cats because
she was so elegant, so refined, so queenly, and so much wider than she was tall. She was the original Big Beautiful Woman. She carried herself with so much dignity. While she was aptly named and did mooch from the two-legs, every morsel had to be cut very daintily. She was a lady after all, not an oaf with the manners of a hungry lumberjack! I often think of her when I see that lovely white Persian on the Fancy Feast ads; that's how she carried herself. Blessed be, Baha Jeff Mullen wrote: Bobcat wrote: Here are two kitties named Mooch.
