What drugs were the people on that made them want to go swimming under those
circumstances?

Have you seen the news coverage about the man in Fort Lauderdale who
tried to go wind-surfing as Hurricane Fay approached? An extra-hard gust
of wind caught his kite, dragged him across the beach, blew him off the
ground and into the side of a building. He survived, but with spinal
fractures, a broken rib, a broken ankle, and brain swelling (which I
presume means concussion). He was wearing a harness with safety
releases, but apparently didn't cut loose from the kite soon enough. I
feel sorry for him, but also think that he was seriously lacking in
common sense to try to go wind-surfing in the face of the storm.

It might be prudent if the homes were replaced with arcs instead of
houses. What a horrible situation. Purrs being sent to those poor
victims. MLB

That is horrible and so sad
The rescue people are to be commended for their bravery.
I can't even imagine going through something like that.

Yes, it does seem to be of Biblical propotions doesn't it? Wow.
Also purrs and prayers loving sent out for all the poor victims.
Very scary indeed.

OMG. The more I hear about Florida the less I think I would like to live
there. Hurricanes, tornadoes, 40 inches of rain?
Did you ever think about moving into a different state?
You could come to the UK. We only have two seasons, summer when the rain
is warm and winter when the rain is cold ;-)
We get excited if we get two days of sun. 4 or 5 days of sun and we declare
a heatwave..

You know, life can deal out enough crap without people just inviting it in.
I can't feel much for him, but do for any family he has. They will have to
take care of his self inflicted wounds.

Hold on, I know I miss a lot but somewhere I read about a couple swimming in
the ocean and they went under from a wave and I think it was her that didn't
come back up.

My eyes are not worth crap, maybe my memory isn't either.

I realize it's your eyes, but that is a police dive team looking to
see if any people in the submerged
homes pictures. There are always, as John E. mentioned the injured
wind-surfer, people, usually
young (as we know, young people think they are invincible and harm-
proof, LOL) who go out in
the ocean to surf during and before and after 'canes and storms that
churn up the water and make
really big waves on which to do so. These people are considered loony-
tunes by most residents
and there are usually a few who die doing this during a real 'cane,
not things like Fay. They are
NOT, repeat not, diving like the cop pictured....in city streets...no
waves there, LOL.
Exactly what weather authorities predicted happened....heavy flooding
and property damage from same.
