Default OK, Shadow-kitten the Beginning

Alright, this is like MANY years ago. I had just gotten married. Was in an
apartment that had a lease that didn't say anything about pets one way or
the other. Realized most of the neighbors had cats. Asked crazy landlady
who said the exterminators would kill it. Still, most of the neighbors had
cats...hmmmm.

One day at mall, stepped into petshop. I know, I know. But this is many
years ago (some of you weren't even BORN yet) and I had looked at Cat Fancy
magazines and had even been thinking of going to a responsible breeder for
a Himalayan (yes, I know I KNOW). But inside was a cage in the banks of
puppy cages that had two what they called PATIO kittens. Wow. Two Patio
kittens! Rare breed. LOL. Now, my mother always told me not to get female
pets, that males were more affectionate. I think that is because all the
female pets back at my mother's were pregnant strays and they had other
things on their mind. I really didn't care, though was pretty partial to
females. There were these two gray and white kittens in a little cage.
One kitten, the boy (he had a blue collar) was meatloafing in the litter
box. Geesh, just sitting there nodding off in the toilet ick. That had to
be dirty. I didn't want a dirty kitty. His sister (she had a PINK
collar), she was sitting upright on that hard wire cage floor, looked right
at me and gave me the silent meow. She wasn't going to sleep in a litter
box, no way. Yeah, it was a silent meow, maybe I couldn't have heard it
over the puppies barking but I was sure it was silent anyway. I asked to
see the girl kitty. Petshop kid opened up the cage and handed her to me.
Being the uber-affectionate thing she was she promptly popped outta my
arms, crawled up my shoulder, hopped on my head then jumped off to explore
the top of the fish food aisle. OK, "I'll take her".

And I brought my Shadow-kitten home to the first apartment from Hell.

Well, will hope to write more when time allows- probably the start of the
tradition of evening Halloween Kitty when Daddy goes to work.

This was nice.

Thanks for sharing her first day with us! I enjoyed it. Reminded me
of my Shadow kitty. I still miss him bunches. Welcome to the group
and I hope to read more.

I wish you had taken both of them. Two kitties playing are the most fun
to watch. Next chapter? MLB

Exterminators would what now? That's odd.

Thank you for sharing how you met Shadow.

They both sound like they were cute at the pet shop. I'm looking
forward to hearing how she and DH reacted to each other, too.
