Sick of email Virus
I notice that other ngs. are complaining about the latest virus. I am
still deleting hundreds of messages! Here is a site given in another ng explaining about it. http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/viru...SWEN.A&VSect=T Section: Propagation via Newsgroup Bev -- God may have created man before woman but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece. |

So far, this one seems far worse than Klez, but like Klez, I'm going to assume that it will die down sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. Yowie |

Lots more info then I found on Norton's site - but then I looked at their site back when this all started, so maybe they have updated it by now. One part I found especially troublesome was the list of AV programs it disables. For those in the group it might be worth your while to check the list and see if your AV program is listed. |

I know - it's really obnoxious. I'm about ready to change my email address. Brenda |

Instead of over 100 messages every time I check my e-mail, it's down to about 25 or so. A few of those are even real messages, and some are the spam I used to hate, but which now seems quite innocuous. Joy Mine has slowed down also -- I'm getting 20 or fewer now a day and the other interesting aspect of this is that I'm not having to delete the usual Brazilian spam I get stuck with -- maybe the virus is clogging the spammers, too. I'm only getting about 4 a day now, but NO offers to buy Viagra online, no Nigerian money-laundering offers, nobody wants to refinance my house. No spam at all. That's really odd. Sherry |

How do you set Yahoo to delete any message over 100kb? I haven't been able to find that option. I have checked preferences and various other settings, but can't find anything relating to maximum size. You can't set Yahoo to delete messages over 100kb, but you can set OE (and other mail clients) to do so. I use OE to download my messages from Yahoo, I don't read them off Yahoo's web page. As a person with a relatively slow dial-up, I do reply to alot of mail and news off-line and use the dial-up to a daily "post office run" where I log on, upload the outgoing mail, download the incoming mail, and then log off again. It stops my phone line being tied up for too long and keeps the charges for minutes of on-line time down to a minimum. If you want to know how to configure Outlook Express to download your Yahoo mail, just holler and I'll run you through it. Yowie |
