Default I feel like a bad meowmie.

Once upon a time, in the days gone by, I would have loved Boyfriend to come
on my lap.
Now I cannot sit down at all before he is on there for the whole day, if he
can. Because I love him I don't want to scare him off - but it's too much.
I love some laptime but it's far too much. I cannot move.

My best idea which works is to go out for a while and then he goes up to his
duvet. But..sometimes I don't want to go out.
I could, of course, put him outside so he can look at being a fierce cat
with rats.
He's driving me mad with the lap thing. He will not leave me alone. I
cannot sit anywhere without him jumping up and kneading me and sitting on my
lap for hours.

I'm fed up with it. I have to go out in the hope he'll go up to his
bedroom and not notice me coming home until it's time for his meal.

I wonder if a second cat would help--a companion for Boyfie. I know you
have been waiting for one to come looking for a home, but could you perhaps
find one in a rescue shelter?

I understand that finances are tight right now. Perhaps you could manage
to purchase a heated sleeping pad for your Boyfriend. It is obvious he
is seeking warmth.

A regular heating pad would be cheap and effective. Be sure that it
does NOT have an automatic timed shut-off - some pads do.

I could put the electric blanket on again on his own double bed.,See if it
makes a difference. I do love him, but I don't want him jumping on my lap
the minute I sit down
I will put his electric blanket on right now.
I just did this, he was in his bedroom, sleeping and when I went in there to
switch his blanket on, he fled downstairs. He has always been shy and I
have always allowed his bedroom to be sacrosant except to get him for vet
visits. Now he expects every time I poke my nose into his room he'll be
going to the vet.
Anyway his electric blanket is now switched on in the spare bedroom. I
think I will sleep in that bed tonight myself as I don't have one and it's a
bit nippy.

Or for about the same price you can get a pet bed warmer:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/K-H-THERMOST...ALL-4-WATTS-8-
5X9-5-/370269984226?pt=US_Pet_Beds&hash=item5635cf95e2

I have no connection to this seller except as a satisfied customer. I
have three of these (the picture is incorrect, the dimensions in the
description are correct) and I just throw a towel over them and the cats
love them. They're 4 watts maximum output so it's like keeping a very
small lightbulb on 24/7.

The trouble with a human's heating pad is that they get far too hot,
even on the lowest setting.

When one of my cats is a bit too affectionate for too long, I try to
make him think it's his idea to get down. I do this by grabbing him up
and hugging him. Before you know it he's struggling to get away. And
he's not miffed because he thinks he has cleverly escaped.

It might be worth a try.

Absolutely! While I don't use any sort of heating pad for Persia, I
certainly wouldn't use one intended for *humans*. We have the ability
to turn them off if they get too hot. Cat's can't do that.

I have a heating pad on both window seats covered with a piece of
fleece. They are on (low) 24/7. They don't get very hot - just warm.
Amber spends most of the day on her's.
