foster kitten scare

I had to do a lime dip on the kittens today because of ringworm. I
checked on them a few times while they were drying and then put them
in the bathroom because they were making an incredible amount of
noise. When I went in to check them again, they were cold. Not out of
it, but not very active and not making noise. Scared the life out of
me. I immediately put two very damp sulfery kittens under my shirt
skin to skin, grabbed a heating pad and a blanket and settled into the
recliner for four hours with two kittens under my shirt, a heating pad
over that and a blanket to hold it all in.

They are now nicely settled into a small box with a heating pad with a
towel covering it and they are sitting all warm and comfy and healthy,
but a bit smelly. They are amazingly quiet - I think they have been
making so much noise because they have been cold. Poor things. I think
they are box kitties until they are a little older.

Purrs for the poor dears, please.

The very loud purrs you are hearing are from Maggy May who talks too
funny for this newsgroup. She is a retired mommy-cat and loves
bitties.

The rest of us are purring too but she's drowning us out.

Purrs of course.

And keep a really close eye on them while on the heat pad. Sometimes
they aren't able to move away if it gets too hot. The darn thing over
heat so easily.

Willow is my cold kitty. It got down to 65 last night and she woke me up
digging on the pillow next to me. I had left the heating pad by the bed and
she was trying to drag it up on the pillow for the heat. I got up and fixed
it for her. It is still a little cool today and she is still on it.

How scary! Wow, that would have been the last thing you needed about
now! But I'll bet they love you extra now for cuddling them until
they were warm.

Oh man, I would have been crushed if they had died because I wasn't
paying enough attention to their condition. Not as bad as Tony, but it
would have sucked royally. As it was, I cried most of the time until
they became stable little kittens.
