Purrrs urgently needed
My sister, Shelby Dawn Gosling, has not been seen since saturday
evening. She lives in calgary, but was up in edmonton visiting some friends and me. I walked her to the bus stop to go back to her friend's place saturday evening, and neither I nor our mother has heard from her since. We are also worried about her cat, who she had left in the apt. while she was up visiting. She said she was going to hitchhike back to calgary on sunday or take the bus on monday because our mother put money in the bank for her to catch a bus. She also has rent that she was going to pay when she got home. Our mother called a friend of shelby's in calgary and had her stop by shelby's apt. yesterday. She's not home. Friend is attempting to get hold of the super and pick up the cat, Toby. What worries me the most is that edmonton has a serial killer on the loose who kills young women, usually prostitutes, but still. Besides that, edmonton is apparently the murder capital of canada, we've had over thirty murders here just since the new year began. Kristy |

(snippage) Kristy Stupid question, but did anyone call the police in both places? Saturday to Wednesday is a long time for a young woman to go missing. Did she have a cell phone? Were there other friends she might have decided to visit without notice? How old is she? Announcing she had plans to hitchhike would have caused me to have apoplexy on the spot. Anyway, purrs on the way for your sister and you and your mom for your worries and for Toby the cat, too. Jill |

I don't live there, so our mother called one of my sister's friends and had her check. She is not there. Friend is supposed to be getting the super's number for my mother to call. If super hasn't heard from her, then we're calling the police again. RE other places to visit: i really don't know, i just know she was already worried about her cat being alone, so i can't see her deciding not to go home. As for the hitching.. i used to do it myself and survived fine, but these days, and out here, it worries the hell out of me too. She will be twenty in july. She has two cellphones, neither of which she is answering and the voicemail is full on at least one of them. Kristy |

Most have a public service policy and should not charge for it. Like for lost pets, perhaps putting out some fliers might help. Even if it's overkill, better safe than sorry. Purrs for her safety. Now i know how my parents felt when I used to pull this kind of ****. Kristy I'll tell you a tale which I didn't hear about until I was 30 years old. This happened when I was about 15, back in the 1970's. I have two older brothers. We'd previously lived in South Carolina and my oldest brother, middle brother and a friend of theirs (Gary) decided it would be "cool" to hitchhike back to SC for a weekend and hang out. They caught a ride with a couple of guys who took them to Savannah, Georgia. They were having a big time, drinking beer, smoking pot, having fun. They let my brothers and his friends out in Savannah and continued on their merry way. Unbeknownst to them, Gary's wallet fell out of his pocket on the back seat of the car. Shortly after that, these guys were pulled over. The car was stolen; there was an all points bulletin out for them for having shot and killed the owner of the car and his wife before stealing it. Gary's wallet was found in the back seat and there was no trace of him or my brothers. Everyone presumed they had killed them, too. I didn't know at the time but my parents and Gary's were in frantic communication together and with the police, even though my brothers were 18 and 21. Doesn't matter how old you are. Do NOT hitchhike. Even "back in the day" it was not an okay thing to do. Jill |

Not too long ago, and when I was older than twenty and ought to have known better, I told my parents I would visit them on my way home from visiting a friend. (The friend lived about 10 hours away from me; my parents about 7.) Well, I didn't get onto the road till about 10pm, and I hadn't charged my cell phone, and I didn't get to the house till 4am. Naturally, my parents had called the highway patrol, couldn't sleep, etc. and I (deservingly) felt like a complete jerk. I only got a few hours of sleep, spent the morning feeling like crap from lack of sleep, and then had to drive home. It was completely awful. When I think of all the torment I've inflicted on my parents ... there's just no way to make up for it. -- monique, who spoils Oscar unmercifully pictures: http://www.bounceswoosh.org/rpca |
