OT - Work

Well, I have a job. It's that one with the law firm that does collections, that "It's um like skip tracing" one. I start tomorrow Yay!! Congratulations! I can understand you feeling worried after what you've just been through, but the chances of this place being the hellhole your prior job was are pretty slim. I'm really glad to hear you won't have to do collections - ugh! Or selling - more ugh!! Leaving messages doesn't sound too bad, and since you'll be making the calls, you can prepare for them ahead of time. Good luck, I hope you enjoy it! Or at least, make enough to pay your bills. Singh wrote: Well, I have a job. It's that one with the law firm that does collections, that "It's um like skip tracing" one. I start tomorrow, and I'm full of more trepidation than excitement. Praying fervently that this won't be another cesspool like that bank job. There'll be phones involved, but at least I can control them; doing outbound stuff leaving messages for the lawyers. I was told 72 times that there would be no selling, collecting, or other similar obnoxiousness involved, just playing messenger and hoping to God someone does not shoot me like in some trashy Western they show late at night on independent channels because even infomerials don't want the airtime. It's late; what the devil am I saying? I wish I were younger and had more excitement about this. Now I'm going in with a jaded eye I shouldn't have, and too damn much worry. Someone please tell me I have nothing to worry about! Tell me I'm competent; tell me I'm under 40, for Godsake! There. This concludes my crazy talk for today. Tomorrow's crazy talk will start at noon, when I punch it at this law firm. Maybe I'll do some good in the world and rope in a few deadbeat parents or something. Blessed be, Baha Baha, you're young, you're competent, and you're gutsy enough to handle anything. For gosh sakes, you're a New Yorker! Now, go get 'em! And post an update about your first day at work. BEST of luck to you. You deserve it. Sherry |
