I am still being inundated with emails and no, they are not abating. I
had 190 this morning.

If anyone wants to try it, I use a little New Zealand programme to scan
my mail. It makes things a lot easier for me. I simply click on
Mailwasher window and all the subject headings in my email account flick
up on the screen. I tick the delete boxes and its gone. Usually with
ordinary spam I tick the bounce box as well. You have no idea the
satisfaction I get when I know a message is going back to the sender.
Sometimes though, the beggars have a fake addy so it doesn't work.

Thanks for the info, I'm downloading it now and will give it a try. So
far, between the filter that my ISP uses and Norton AV, most of this
latest spat are deleted before actually reaching my system. Everytime
that happens, though, I still get a nessage saying that such and such
message has been deleted, so I still have to delete those messages.
Luckily, I'm not dealing with anywhere near the numbers some are
reporting - I think my biggest number has been under 40 a day.

be careful doing this. I also subscibe to a few computing newsgroups and the
consensus there is that the current worm thingy can override anlot of those
programs....and even worse, send you more.

Trust me, I wish there was something I could do.....I had 450 between 8.30
last night and 8.00 this morning

Purrs that it goes away

Hi Bev and hte rest of the group.

I've finally caved in and munged my e-mail addy. It now reads
.

I've only been using the munged address for about 24 hours, and even in

that
time, I've noticed a marked decrease in the mumber of those stupid
"microsoft security patch" e-mails - it gone down from 6 megs worth in

just
3 hours to just under 2 meg in over 10 hours (overnight). I can live with
2meg of spam - it doesnt fill up my inbox which means i can still get

normal
e-mail. While I can't say for certain that the munged e-mail addy is the
reason for the marked decrease, the spread of the virus itslef may now be
slowing, but I think it might be (I've got direct evidence that the virus
was harvesting addies from recent posters in newsgroups)

As much as I don't like using a munged e-mail, I think its going to have

to
be the only solution if I want to keep my yowie9644 e-mail address alive.

So, you know what to do if you want to e-mail me, remove "DIESPAMDIE" from
my addy.

Yowie

I've munged mine, too. Remove the OBVIOUS to reply.

There is always the option to munge the email address that shows up on
the newsgroups but keep the real thing in the "reply to" option.
Testing this now.

I tried this, but got an error message about a missing DLL file. I
