My darling Cassie (RB) used to sit much like that but she often'
crossed her front paws. Reeeaaallllly elegant. Unless she forgot
to tuck her tongue back in...

LOL - Sammy does that - she' the first cat I've known to stick her tongue
out at me (but then again she's the first cat I've ever known who sucks her
toe!!!) ;

I call that one the "elegant" pose. I assumed that both boy and girl
kitties could be elegant, but I've only had one cat - Betty, a lady
cat.

Oh, crossed paws. Sometimes when Stinky is in Sphinx position-- back
legs meatloafed, and front paws stretched out in front of him, he will
cross his paws in front of him. I call that his "Bring me another
pina colada" pose.

Both mine do it, one boy, one girl. It seems to make them feel dignified and
important.

Hi All,

My little Squidget is the princess of the bunch. At least she tries
to act that way. When she's sitting up, with her forelegs straight
and her hind legs folded under her, she will modestly wrap her tail
around her body and let the tip of it cover her front paws. If she's
lying down, but not stretched out, she will cross her front paws. She
almost never goes into the four legged open position on her back, in
fact she hardly sleeps on her back at all.

I'm not sure why I think these are modest, feminine gestures, but she
certainly looks demure sitting or lying there that way. Do you notice
any gestures or postures that you identify with either your male of
female cats?

Regards and Purrs,
O J

My little Cheeky is very feminine, and in fact sits the same way,
with her tail tucked. The rest of the time it is flying high, like the
mast of a tall ship! I have been told this means she feels safe.
