Default Cable box dies. Cat to blame.

This time of year Espy starts considering the top of the cable box a
fine place to hang out. For those of you without these horrid devices,
they descramble the cable tv signal so we can watch. For some reason,
they stay very warm all the time.

I've always suspected the reason that the power supply fails every
other year or so is because Espy is blocking the vents and causing it
to overheat. So now I have a new, toasty, cable box and Espy is giving
it his seal of approval.

Yeah, that's Jessie's favorite spot too whenever there's no sunbeam coming
in through one of the windows (Houston... winter...sun? what's sun? - no
cold, no snow, but definitely no sun).

In my case, it's a satellite receiver. Millie was the main one using it
as a heater. One time, she threw up a hairball on it and the liquid got
into the circuitry and killed it. Fortunately, I know how to recover
electronics damaged that (and some other ways): several water washes
followed by a several distilled water rinses.

I solved the problem by adding a shelf above the one over the TV where
the receiver lives - far enough above it to allow ventilation but close
enough that cats can't get between the two shelves. No more puke in the
receiver.

Dunzi loves the network hub- it's been real fun to watch the battle of
wills between her and Dave over the last year or so since we got it.
It started with him saying he didn't want her lying on it which after
many attempts to push her off only to have her get back on again ended
with the compromise that she is allowed to lie on top of it but only
her front legs, head and chest and she is CERTAINLY not allowed to
stand on it! Yes you've guessed it she does it all the time- he's
always telling her to get off or move back a bit- I give it another 3
months before he even gives up on that
