OT - Another tech help request
I found out about a new free VOIP service like Skype and signed up but can't
figure out how to dial a call with it. The instructions are not clear, I've tried and tried to make calls and can't do it. The service is from www.voipstunt.com I didn't find a means of contacting them on the site. They seem to be based in Switzerland, so maybe they don't know that the international calling format in Europe does not work in North America. If I want to call from the USA to anywhere EXCEPT Canada (and maybe Mexico, I am not sure) my normal procedure is to dial 011 + country code + area code + number. Not 00 + etc. as their instructions say. Using the phone here in the USA, to call the USA or Canada, I would dial 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX. I tried every method I could think of and nothing worked.... Here are some examples of ways I tried to dial on their site: 00-XXX-XXX-XXXX 00-1-XXX-XXX-XXXX 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX 011-XXX-XXX-XXXX 011-1-XXX-XXX-XXXX 011-00-XXX-XXX-XXXX 011-00-1-XXX-XXX-XXXX Maybe someone here could tell me precisely what I should be doing to make this work? |

Their website instructs to place a call like this: QUOTE Making your first VoipStunt call For a call to any online VoipStunt user, simply enter the username in the textbox and click the dial button. For a call to any regular phone, enter the desired number in the textbox and click the dial-button. If you are calling a land line in one of our free destinations, the call will be placed at no costs at all. For all other calls, you will be asked to buy credits first. Please note that when you call a number (even if it's local) you should always dial 00 + countrycode + areacode + subscribernumber) UNQUOTE And both the calling numer (your number) and the destination number should be in the international format. Maybe you should send them some feedback about this issue as it doesn't seem to be covered by their FAQ either. I'd probably have the same problem if I wanted to use the program as calls abroad from Finland also have a different kind of "dial out" code than 00. Of course it is possible, that if their company is based in Switzerland, the call may go thru there via the internet, before heading for the final destination. I don't really see how they otherwise could have much to say about the call charges... Christine in Laitila, Finland (posting thru Google) |

I was just pushing the numbers in sequence on the dialpad which in their app is a GUI interface that looks just like the dialpad on a real phone and has no "+" symbol on it. |

I sent a question by email to which I was not sure exists but the message hasn't come back undeliverable yet.
