Licking catnip
Ok, the catnip thread got me thinking if my cat is just weird, or if
other cats do this, especially since I didn't see any mention of it. I'll give my cat a typical catnip toy (she especially likes the "burlap bag" type catnip toys). After rolling on it for a few seconds, she starts licking it. She will lick it literally for 45+ minutes straight, and if I pick it up afterwards it's soaked all the way through! I know she's not dunking it in anything (she does dunk things in her water bowl so that's what I thought she had done the first time). I've watched her closely and she just sits there licking away. Is she just weird? Or do others do the same thing? My younger cat does not do this. |

Not weird--just her gig. Doesn't sound off the wall--I would be a bit
concerned about her lickng a burlap thing for that long of a time--any rawness? Thanks, Jen wrote: Ok, the catnip thread got me thinking if my cat is just weird, or if other cats do this, especially since I didn't see any mention of it. Yeah Otis does that too, gives it a good soaking, I assume it's to
attempt to lick the catnip off the toy. Although when I give him catnip leaves, he does this really weird, druggy thing. He licks his own face, then the catnip, then sort of rolls his head in the catnip so it sticks to his face, very weird. |
