This is true, but only if fed in relatively large doses,

No. The FDA prohibited the inclusion of propylene glycol in cat foods in
*any* amount.

Thankfully, I've always assumed that one was worse, though I don't
have any reason why.

Another interesting issue. I checked out my mom's cat first aid book,
the one that recommended pepto. Yes, the book is old, so that can be
excused, though obviously needs to be corrected. And who knows how
many people have old, incorrect books.

But it also says to put the cat on a fast for 24 hours - no food
(that's fine) and no water! Gee, let's take a dehydrated cat and
remove all water. My mom crossed it out, but I think the whole book
needs to be tossed now. Outdated and just plain wrong.

I think you're right... time for that one to go.

But be careful picking a new one. I recently glanced through a new-ish
cat book at a friend's and it repeated the old myth that a queen needs
to have one litter "to enjoy motherhood" before spaying

The Cornell Book of Cats is about the best and most accurate "owners manual"
and medical reference available for pet owners.

About $20 on Amazon http://tinyurl.com/3ktzt

There are no "versions. There is the truth and then there is what
people want to twist it into for whatever reasons or purposes. I
certainly remember, and what I remember is that people took fragments
of things I said out of context, gave opinions on that context, and
everyone else started creating issues and making contexts that in the
end had absolutely nothing to do with what was originally said or done.
As you can see, it's gotten to the point where this Phil person has
developed a whole new backstory, and these lies have been repeated so
often, they are believed to be true. However sorry anyone feels for
Kami based on their belief of the situation, I feel sorry for the cats
of those who engage in this kind of behavior. It puts to rest another
myth that cats are inherently excellent judges of character, otherwise
they would run far and fast.

Then what is the truth? (I'm fairly new here - after being an original
poster to rpc before the split and then leaving for quite a few years). Was
Kami declawed? If so, why was she declawed? Did you know what declawing
involved before having it done?

Hugs,

CatNipped

That's a pretty subjective opinion.

A
lot of it is fun to watch. I'm not violent and aggressive towards

women.

I've never met a man who claims he hasn't watched porn or doesn't

enjoy it,
and many women have watched it or do enjoy it as well.

Well, obviously since it is a multi-billion dollar industry...

uh, huh...

Amazingly enough, the
vast majority of these people are well-adjusted and don't go around

beating
women or doing whatever you might imagine goes on.

I'm not that naive.

Hmm - well, "beating women" or "doing whatever you might imagine"
could be VERY different things.

The vast majority of these people certainly do NOT beat women. I have
no idea what you "might imagine". (Do you imagine they become
aroused? If so, you're probably right. Do you imagine they all
visit prostitutes and tell their wives their at the health club? If
so, you're probably wrong).

To get a large listing of porn items, including ones that are very
female-friendly, you might check out blowfish.com ...

Not interested. I can make my own sex life spicy, TYVM. All of the
porn I have seen was just pretty, well, *common* for lack of a better
word. It doesn't do anything for me. I don't find anything arousing
in watching two strangers have sex.

Scum runs most industries.

Well, that's true. But I think it takes *special* scum to run
something like the pron industry.

Sure, consenting adults have the right to do what they want on the
camera or off...but that doesn't mean the results don't hurt others
down the line.

This is a lot like the video game arguments. I honestly don't
believe that
video games or pornography played or viewed by adults is getting

anyone hurt.
The seriously disturbed people who hurt others would have gotten the

idea from
any source, whether it be a book, a video game, a porn, or an
off-color joke.

There are studies about this very subject.

Any OBJECTIVE studies?

Look - I don't care if you
or anyone else watches it - whatever trips your trigger. I just think
a lot of porn portrays women as objects to be had and mastered by
males, weak, and one-dimentional.

Not to worry - if that kind of porn isn't your cup of tea - they've
got other kinds.

Much of it is demeaning and
borderline abusive (not going into details here, but you can use your
imagination). I'm not comfortable with that imagery. I don't like
imagery that portrays any negative stereotype, or reinforces abuse.

True stroy: A very good friend of mine was living in LA with a guy
whom she (and I) had known most of her life. They were in love and
planned to marry. He told her he was taking acting jobs, and was gone
long hours and took trips, etc. to shoot "fishing" and "nature" films.
This continued for awhile - I don't know how long. She got a phone
call one day at work from a mututal friend and was told to buy that
months' Hustler and look on page 93...well the rest is history and so
was he. He became quite famous, I guess, and I suspect Karleen knows
him well. He's still a porn star, and still a scum bag, but now he's
behind the camera more than he's in front of it. I can't think anyone
in the industry is any more honorable than he is/was. gag

Wow - we could trade stories all day long and it wouldn't mean **** to
a tree. Glad your friend found out about this guy. Next time she
becomes engaged, she might want to learn a little more about who she's
getting engaged to.

Hope she learned her lesson.

My reply referred to the statement "it causes Heinz bodies (clumps of
oxidized, denatured hemoglobin) in feline blood and decreases the life
of erythrocytes (RBCs).", as should have been obvious from the context,
I think.

However, if we're being really pedantic, I suppose I should've said "It
is true that PG causes Heinz bodies, but only if fed in relatively
large doses, etc..."

HTH,
Steve.

Hey! Nothing wrong with finding your husband online! That's how I found
mine, although it was an accidental meeting of sorts. He saw my AOL profile
and thought I might be a friend of his from high school named Kelly who
moved to MD. I wasn't, but we kept talking anyway

Like your constant battle with obesity and your finding
the current loser you are married to in a sleazebag chat room?

That's completely uncalled for. I'm sure there are plenty of us here,
including me, who have/are currently struggling with our weight. I know you
have the right to call people names, blah blah, but this is getting old
quick.
