OT - Ouch!!!
I gave myself my first injection (of Lovemax*) and it was terrifying
until I finally stuck it in - I hardly felt that, it's a teensy little needle - but that serum BURNS. It's STILL burning. * We didn't have to pay for this since I looooong ago met my out-of-pocket expense. But coming January 1, 2012, we would have to pay $32300 US for each injection (every day). I say "would" because we're not going to be able to pay $960 - $992.00 US. We have too many $500.00+ prescriptions and I'm wondering how we're going to do that with us already in a deep dark financial hole. The oncologist is going to have to put me on the second best med (probably Coumadin) and hope for the best. -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, created by "Yowie", maintained by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.net/rpcablog/ Email: L(dot)T(dot)Crews(at)comcast(dot)net |

He's pretty much a genius. He's an oncologist but he's also a gerontologist and has an internal medicine degree. They called him in to find out if some type of cancer was what was causing my intestinal problems. He did what 1 out a 1,000 doctors could not do even if it were right in front of their eyes on their microscopic slide. I just lucked out that they called him in.

Ouch is right. I'm not sure what this injectible is for. Isn't coumadin a blood thinner? My mother was on it for years. She couldn't take anything containing aspirin if she got a headache or upset stomach (alka seltzer). She also couldn't eat most green leafy vegetables. The last doctor she had tried to put her back on it when she came home from the hospital. I explained one of the few things I could get her to eat was spinach souffle. If he had put her back on coumadin her diet would have consisted pretty much of scrambled eggs (egg beaters) and toast. So he didn't put her on that, he suggested one baby aspirin per day instead. Have you asked any of the doctors about any known prescription savings plans? Is it possible for you to get samples of any of the meds (probably not the injectible)? My doctor back in Memphis used to give me samples because he knew I didn't have insurance. (Of course I'd known this guy since high school.) It's worth asking about. I'd ask the pharmacist, too. Purrs continue for your rapid recovery. Jill |

Purrs continue for your rapid recovery. Jill My doc also gave me samples. Reps from big pharmaceutical firms routinely give samples to doctors. If doctors don't pass them on to patients who need them, the samples just sit on a shelf till they passed the expiration dates. Of course if the meds are very pricely, doctors probably won't get too many samples. At times my doc wanted me to try samples first to see how the med worked on me before writing a prescription for it. |

Have you tried contacting these people? https://patientassistanceprogram.san...ement_pat.aspx A quick glance at the site indicates that household income strongly determines if aid is available or not. Some of your other prescriptions might also meet criteria for financial aid. I may have been told wrong but I understood that when you became eligible for SS Disability you were also eligible for Medicare benefits. Wishing you the best Karen |
