Your vocabulary is good, and so is your spelling and grammar. But you
didn't want a Finn telling you that.

I have always wished I had the skills to learn other languages. I've
got about enough French to get by with stuff that is thrown into TV
and novels, and enough Spanish to eavesdrop on friends and to not
starve or get too thirsty in Mexico and that's about it.

I wouldn't say it's a skill I have, I just happened to live in the US at
the age (5-6 yo) when kids are programmed to learn language by osmosis.
I studied French and German at school, but I can't say I speak either of
them fluently.
