Kitten Survives Multi-State Trip To Georgia Clinging To Big Rig

Camden County Humane Society Trying To Find Home For 'Lucky'

Camden County animal workers have renamed a 3- to 4-month-old kitten that
apparently survived hundreds of miles clinging to a tractor trailer "Lucky,"
and hope to continue its lucky spree by finding it a home.

On Wednesday, an employee of a truck stop at the Harriett's Bluff exit off
Interstate-95 saw the kitten under a rig that had just stopped for fuel. She
pulled the kitten from under the truck.

The truck's driver said he didn't know where it came from, but the last time
he'd stopped his truck had been in New Jersey.

The kitten was given to an Camden County Animal Control officer, and an
examination found some damage to the feet, but nothing that won't heal.

While the gas station worker named the kitten "Jersey," people at the Humane
Society of Camden County thought "Lucky" was more appropriate.

The shelter can only hold it for a limited period of time due to
overcrowding, and periodically euthanize animals that are not adopted. While
the Humane Society has many good animals in need of homes, they put out a
special appeal to find "Lucky" a home, saying, "it's a shame to lose a
kitten that has already survived so much."
