Default Purrs/Prayers Requested For My Mom

My mother, who's been battling leukemia for almost a year, was
hospitalized yesterday (Saturday) with pain in her chest. The doctors
ruled out all the serious stuff -- nothing with her heart, no
bloodclots, doesn't have pneumonia, and Bast knows what else. Knowing
herself as well as she does, she suspects it could be a sinus
infection that spread to her throat or lungs. Because of the
leukemia, she also got transfusions of packed red cells to boost her
strength, and platelets.

I'm not worried about her like I was last year, when we first found
out about the leukemia, but I am concerned. May I please have some
purrs, prayers, good thoughts, or whatever it is that this diverse
community does?

Thank you,
Debby

'bast'??? - you think that invoking the name of a foul demon is going to be
beneficial??!!!!

Try Jesus instead.

You're out of line. I'm Jewish, and Jews don't believe in Jesus.

For Pete's sake, Exrxes, can't you take a joke? You sure make enough
of them!

Some things are fit to joke about, and some are not.

I, personally, don't think that the occult in any form is something to be
taken lightly. Do I believe in 'bast'? - you bet!, or rather I believe in
a spirit that manifested itself as 'bast' in ancient rituals, and which is
still in existence today.

The chilling thing is that there are plenty of people who actively seek out
the 'old' gods in order to worship them - and they're not mistaken, they
*are* in touch with 'something', but it's not something that will help them
nor care about them.

As for Jews 'not believing in Jesus' - well, of course, they *do*, they just
don't recognise Him for who He is. Yet.

and, finally, as for your Mother - God bless her and deliver her from all
her ailments.

Absolutely. All of the mid-Iowa kitties are sending our best purrs, and
our humans are sending their prayers and thoughts.

What I meant by a joke was how I referred to Bast. Given that this
*is* a cat-oriented newsgroup, I saw no harm in invoking Bast for this
post.

As for Jews 'not believing in Jesus' - well, of course, they *do*, they just

Okay, I'll concede this one to you. As a (non-observant) Reform Jew,
I acknowledge that Jesus was born a Jew, was Bar Mitzvahed, and that
his "last supper" was actually a Passover Seder. Out of respect for
this newsgroup and its charter, I will not take this any further.

and, finally, as for your Mother - God bless her and deliver her from all
her ailments.

Thank you. I told her of your well-wishes, and she thanks you as
well.

Thank you, Granby. And my mom thanks you as well.

One thing I learned about my mother today: If she could, she'd watch
Animal Planet 24/7.
