Do you have this feeling inside of you? A feeling of something
burning inside of you every moment of every day?

It moves me, it paralyzes me, and it consumes me. And when I can't
hold it in any longer, I want to climb the summit of the highest
mountain and shout it out:

I LOVE MY KITTY!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

Is this what it means to be in love?

Absolutely!

You know, I have been thinking, Pearl looks at me with this lilting
"love" look. You can see it he

she looks even MORE melting at times now. She didn't look at me like
this when I first had her. She really LEARNED to love me. I learned to
love her too. Sugar is always my baby and its just "there", but it is
interesting to realize how you become loved too.

That is a great picture! MLB

Those are THE gooshy eyes!

Stinky is the master of gooshy eyes, BTW. He can sit on me and give
me gooshy eyes for what seems like hours, power-purring all the time,
and sometimes stretching out a paw and planting it on my nose.
And when he does that I could just squeeze the heck out of him if I
didn't restrain myself. And to answer Tak's question, yes sometimes I
feel so full of love for my little beastie boy, I could just bust.

Yup, gooshy eyes is a perfect term.

Romeo is so pretty! He looks a bit like Tippy, don't you think, Randy?
They're both cuties - hooray for your brother!

Yes. I felt like this about my beloved Pollyanna. I didn't think I would
ever feel like it again, but one day, I did. You will too. I takes a while
to open up your heart again for another.
If you feel you are nearly ready, go to shelters and look regularly. The
right one will call out to your heart. Betty will send it to you and there
will be no resisting. Just look for that one. You will know it when you
see it.

I felt like this for months after my beloved *heart-cat* Polly died in
1993. I was absolutely devestated. Eventually events conspired that I
was sent a tiny, bald, runt of a kitten with one good eye and the
attitude of an enormous siberian Tiger. I love HRFL so much that
sometimes it actually hurts. He's not Polly, he is his own special self
and he's enriched my life so much I can't even begin to describe it. I
really believe he was picked by Polly to move into my life as my next
*heart-cat*. One day Betty will send you your next *heart cat*. Don't
get me wrong, I love all my cats dearly, and they have all got a special
place in my heart, but occasionally there is one who doesn't just touch
your heart with their soft paw, but stamps on your heart so damn hard
you are left with an indelible deep paw print. That's a *heart cat*. And
your next one *will* come, and it will be sent by Betty when you are
ready.

All the cats who have shared my home throughout my life are special to me,
but I've had the pleasure of sharing my heart the way you describe with
three of them. And the grief of losing two of them.

The first was Blondie, a calico, who was born to the next door cat the
morning our dog died. I was 8 years old.

Blondie sent me Moxie about 30 years later. Moxie was dumped and I nearly
ran over her when she dashed in front of me as I pulled into our driveway.
She was about 4 months old and her nose was marked just like Blondie's. It
was divided down the middle with peach on one side and gray on the other.

Moxie was still alive when Rosie was born wild in our neighborhood. Rosie
stole my heart when she allowed me to see her sweet little tabby face
peeking out from under a bush. I've told before how I trapped and trained
her. So, I had two heart cats at the same time for a while.

I still have Rosie, and I give thanks for her every day.

I hope Tak will come to realize that he does not have to be frugal with
love. Loving one heart cat (or even two at once) does not mean that you
love the first one any less. It only makes your life that much richer.

Annie

Awww. It is true. But I was so hoping you had found a friend in need as

well.

You've made me think about what's going on, and I have a theory that
there's a particular problem that can happen when you've had one cat:

1. My life is so empty - I would like a kitty to love.
2. What kind of kitty? I want Betty!
3. But Betty is gone.
4. Dejected.
5. Repeat.

It seems like it's possible to keep going around in circles like this
for months. Maybe even years, although that remains to be seen.

getting on soapbox,

Tak, -- it takes a big leap of faith to lay one's aching heart out there in
the open to risk being "paw" to another fur person but I know you can do it
once you make up your mind that you can. You have so much to give -- be
kind to yourself and allow yourself the opportunity to share that love --
yes, it is risky but it is sooo worth it.

getting off soapbox,

kindest regards,
Christine and Oreo, Midnight, Robin & Tucker
