I will now be 100% mummy.

(was hoping to avoid the Big Snip, but Marina looked really great. I
may not have had the courage otherwise!)

Many purrs for your tresses, but one look at Cary and you'll know it's
all worth it.

Time, mainly.

I don't have time for maintanence, and it still doesn't get rid of the
problem of my strands getting wrapped around little fingers.

Nope, its gone now, and I have a long ponytail to play with, just like
Marina.

I picked a salon with a a "motherly figure" working in it rather than one
that had the ironing-board-flat-tummy wearing a midriff to show off th
enavel peircing type places, figuring that she, of all people, would
understand what *wash and go* means, especially after explaing that this was
a "mummy cut"

After it was all gone, she got out all this "product" (why don't these
thigns have names any more, like gel, mousse, shaping wax etc etc) and
played with it. Ok, it looked great in the salon, but there is no point
telling me "When you blow dry it, just put some product on your finger types
and give it that spikey look". For a start, I flatly refuse to buy
"product", and secondly, what part of "wash and go" did she not understand?
To my mind, "wash and go" means "throw some shampoo in its general
direction, possibly attempt to condition if Cary isn't crying hysterically
by that time, madly towel dry, run fingers through wet hair, and bolt out of
the bathroom before Cary's head explodes". It does *not* include a blow dry
and mucking around with gooey stuff (I've got a baby, remember, I get to
"play" with enough gooey stuff that ends up in my hair anyway).

We'll see how it *really* looks after I have a shower today. Considering
what a big change it is, I am quite happy with it. So far.

Yowie
(quite disturbed how thin its gotten, and how much grey is now it it - I
couldn't tell since it spent 99% of the time out of my sight in a plait)

I'm always sad to see long hair go, but I've yet to see a new mom (or
dad, for that matter) with long hair not decide it is simply
impossible to reconcile long hair and small children.

I hope you still like it and are happy with it after the shower :-)

And, oh, yeah, your definition of "wash and go" exactly fits mine!

No. Not for Joel, for me.

I've grown my hair for 6 solid years, getting only a yearly trim to be rid
of the dead ends right at the bottom. I'm very proud of my long, wavey,
natural coloured hair. snip

Fyi, the organization is called "Locks of Love." They make wigs from
donated hair for children undergoing chemo. My daughter says she wants to
donate to this next month; she came up with this on her own after reading
about this group...she has fabulous hair and if she does do it they could
make at least 2 wigs from it 'cause it's so thick & curly.
We'll see what happens.
