Default Boyfriend got severely beaten up.

He went out on Friday night around 8.30pm and didn't come in for his 10 pm
sprinkles. I looked for him- he was at the door by 10.15 but he came inside
very slowly. I knew the moment he came in there was something wrong, as he
would usually go straight to his dish, he didn't. He sat there, looked at
me and decided that his bedroom was the best place. He went upstairs very
slowly and sat on the landing, I followed him and he gave the tiniest meow.
He was unable to get up on the bed so I picked him up. He tried to avoid me
but couldn't. I examined him for wounds (none I could see). At first I
thought he might have been hit by a car but he had a lot of tufts of fur
sticking out so I knew he'd had a fight that he'd lost big time. I placed
him on the bed. He was breathing heavily and I thought "should I take him
to the vet now?" I decided not to and see how he was in the morning.
I woke up at 4.30 worrying about him and daren't check him then in case a)
he was dead b) might disturb his recovery sleep.
He was a lot better by Saturday a.m. but still staggered a bit. He ate his
breakfast, went out for 15 mins and spent the day in bed. Today he is even
more improved, much better meows, keen on his mealtimes, out a bit more but
still a lot of bedroom..
I suspect that black long-haired cat that he had a fight with one day last
week said "wait until I see you again and you don't have your meowmie behind
you"
I am very tempted to get a catchalive trap to catch this cat and see if he
is neutered. If he isn't he will meet the vet. If he is, well, not much to
do about it.
This is the fourth time that Boyfie and him have fought (including when he
came in to Boyfie's own conservatory when he was minding his own business).
I'm not having it.
Boyfie rarely fights unless cats come very close to his house, and he's
getting too old to go up against young thugs.
I never heard the fight otherwise I'd have been out there behind him.
I'm hoping that the other cat was equally beaten up and decides not to
chance his luck here again, like Boyfie says " if you think I am hurt you
should have seen the other cat"

I'm sorry to hear this. I hope Boyfie will be much better in the morning.

He is recovering, but if that cat comes again, Nocat beats my boy up and
gets away with it. I'm on the lookout for him and want to find out where he
lives.

I gave him some Sheba, turkey in white sauce, helped
a lot..
My aunt advised that if the cat comes again for fighting Boyfie that I
should throw a bucket of water on him.
Boyfie only fights if a cat comes too near the door to his house. He
is not argumentative unless they come too near to his meowmie or bedroom
which this big black cat seems to be doing. So he offers a fight.
I wish he wouldn't. Usually I hear the sing song and go out and save him
but unfortunately I missed this one. He's too old (13) for fighting but he
thinks he is not.
He cannot take on a younger bigger cat but he thinks he can. so he got
beaten up :-( I m hoping that he remembers this, and not to fight the
younger cats that come near his house but I doubt it. " You come near my
house or meowmie and you are one dead cat"

Do you have a water hose that you can leave connected to an outdoor
faucet? If you are going to try water, that would be easier than
throwing a bucket of water.

Yes, I hsve a water hose connected to an outdoor tap. Good idea..
the thing is that i never saw or heard the beating otherwise I'd have been
out there to save him.
He's still a bit stiff and he wants his bedroom.

I cannot say for certain that the black cat did it, but it's likely snce
the skirmish last week. I wish KFC was still here. She never tolerated any
Boyfriend bullying

Poor Boyfie. I'm so sorry he got so badly beaten. It's awful when they
fight. Like you, I go out to try to stop it if I hear them but I don't
always hear it. Sootie's fights are usually with Marvin next door, he's a
much bigger cat than Sootie but I think Sootie's more aggressive and, like
Boyfie, won't have him in her garden if she can stop it. She was bullied
by their previous cat and is having none of it from the youngster.
I think the water hose is a good idea if you can get it working quickly,
if not then a bucket of water ready and easy to hand might be good. Maybe
both.

I don't really want to use water on a cat, but I will probably have to.
Poor Boyfie spent a miserable weekend, stiff and sore and resting a lot
upstairs on his duvet. He didn't have any visible injuries so I assumed he
was tumbled about a lot and got very bruised. His meow has not come back to
full strength yet. Maybe he screamed and yelled so much during the fight
that his vocal cords need a while to recover.
I didn't hear the fight, usually it happens near the back door so am out to
break it up like you.
When Kitty Farmcat used to fall out with Sally-next-door (who belonged to my
lovely neighbour Alan, now passed away) about the ownership of Alan's
orchard, which was Sally's, although KFC thought it was hers, he said to me
"let them sort it out for themselves" which was fine as it was mainly
posturing and singing and occasionally a brief skirmish, but I am simply
not going to allow Boyfie to get beaten up this badly. He is perfectly
entitled to protect his doorway and his own garden by singing a threat
without being beaten up so badly by a young thug of a cat. That's really
bad manners. And I'm not having it.

He's recovering well aided by Sheba, but isn't quite back to normal yet. I
suspect he will never like black cats again since the first cat that bullied
him was a black shorthair and this one is a black longhair. Or maybe that's
the problem? He sees a black cat and goes for it.
He did jump on a black shorthair girlcat once who was innocently passing
through.
Anyway, I've told him he is a teenager now, and best come back smartly to
the house if you aren't winning. I doubt he'll take much notice. He intends
to defend his house/garden to his last breath. Remember he was a lost boy,
almost starving. He now has a perfect home (for him) and he isn't about to
lose it by allowing anycat anywhere near it.
