Default Week from Hell (LONG)

Speaking from Sickie Land here, about the week from hell.

It started with Cosmo and Internet, of course, and our trip to the
vet. Then it went downhill from there.

Well, DH had a scheduled disciplinary hearing at his job that day for
chronic lateless (they get upset if you're *one* minute late!), which
we knew about, but it added to the intense stress. we still don't
know the outcome yet. He could be suspended for one day without pay,
which would hurt. And another occurrence, I think, could cause him to
lose his job. I just don't understand this.

Anyway, then I accidentally break a glass in there somewhere,
scattering it everywhere, including around the cat's water dish.
Crap! Have to try carefully get it all up and clean out the water
dish.

Then I'm supposed to connect with a dear friend online and chat.
Except that she never shows up. Turns out, her 'puter died.

Then I go out and do one of my little civic things, and put notices on
the cars in my neighborhood to warn them about the street sweeping
schedule this year, and the dates when they will need to move their
cars. I have been doing this for years, just to help the neighbors
out. Now, of course, this means I have to move my car, too. One
problem (well, two): no exhaust system and dead battery. So I have a
friend run me down to an auto graveyard, get a battery, bring it back.

I ask hillybilly neighbor (I am allowed to say this, since I'm
part-hillbilly myself ;-) ) to help. He says yes, tries, says it's
the wrong kind of battery. Crap. Later, he comes over, says his
brother is coming over to lend him money and he'll bring a battery and
get the car moved. Can he bum $2 for a pack of cigs until then?
Yeah, okay. I'm saved! I think. He and his mysterious brother and
the $2 have yet to appear.

DH tries the next day. He can't get the connections to stay attached.
I can *almost* start it, but the connecting thingy comes off. We're
late for appointments and work, and we can't get it fixed.

I spend Thurs. night calling the few people I can think of who either
know about cars, have big cars, or have muscles to push cares. And
get zilch. Nada.

So, Friday, I lose my car, which I've been trying to sell. It gets
towed, in spite of a bit note I left on the windshield begging them
not to tow it.

This caused very bad things between DH and I, which I won't go into.

Sunday night, suddenly, I get hit *hard* with a cold. Well, I think
it's a cold. Oops, guess it went immediately from that into acute
bronchitis. Fever chills, can't breathe, oh, goody!

Call Dr.'s office Monday morning (and I am NEVER up in the morning!)
at 9:15 am. TUESDAY late morning, they call me back. By that time, I
have found a refill on on old cough medicine, and called it in myself
to the pharmacy. Managed to find one friend left in the neighborhood
(they're all moving out at a fast rate) to get me over to the
pharmacy, and got home.

By the time the Dr..'s office calls me back, I am livid. I tell them
I know what I have (had it last October, too), and I know what I need,
and they'd better call it into the pharmacy TODAY! Amazingly, they
do. So I call my friend from the night before. Unfortunately, she is
responsible for the computer systems of a major corporation, and
everything crashed; a lot of fast-food workers and managers were not
going to get paychecks if she didn't stay. Boy, did *she* have a good
excuse! lol!!! "No problem!" I said.

I had one last person I could call. She has kids (didn't want to
expose anyone with kids to this), but she's a nurse, so she's got high
immuinity -- lol.

This is already too long, so I won't go into how they got me the wrong
antibiotic at first, and then didn't have enough, and then said the
insurance company wouldn't cover it . . . .

Oh, I did manage to get my car back, but I'm going to keep that
miracle a secret. There surely are two few of them floating around
right now as it is.
