Default Last Few Hours or so for Kilikini

Posted to her CaringBridge site by a mutual friend:

"Allan called from ICU this morning. He talked to the pulmonary doctor one
more time to make certain removing the ventilator was the right course of
action. The doctor told him it is.

Christy is in systematic organ failure with the heart being the only
remaining organ that is functioning. The doctor told Allan the heart was the
next to go.

Christy was removed from the ventilator and sedative. She was given an
initial injection of morphine with additional injections to be given
throughout the course.

The doctor asked Allan what he wanted done if Christy went into cardiac
arrest. Allan told the doctor to do nothing. This is what Christy would
want. Allan asked the doctor how long. The doctor told him the last time the
ventilator was removed Christy went only 3 days breathing on her own before
having to be put back on it. Her condition has worsened since then.

Allan wants to be with Christy at the end so he and his mother will be
staying at the hospital."

I'll never forget what a wonderful friend she's been. Remember how she
rescued and saved Miss Pua? Remember how horribly emaciated that cat was?
Christy nursed her back to health and we got to watch the transformation
from a starved waif to a gorgeous, shiny kitty Can't forget her two
tuxedos, either. Tyrone and Chloe

God bless her. May her passing be peaceful.

IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRWAY

If tears could build a stairway.
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken
No time to say "Goodbye."
You were gone before I knew it.
and only Gods knows why.

My heart still aches with sadness.
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you-
No one can ever know.

But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no mo
To remember all the happy times.
life still has much in store

Since you'll never be forgotten.
I pledge to you today-
A hollowed place within my heart.
is where you will always stay.

Default Last Few Hours or so for Kilikini

I am so, so sorry to hear this. I was hoping she could hang on until after
the holidays are over - this will be such a sad time of year for Allan and
Christi's family from now on. But it's best if she doesn't have to suffer
any longer. I'm so glad they're giving her the morphine again - not giving
it to her because it might "deteriorate her condition" was utterly
ridiculous!

If you speak to Allan again, please let him know that he's in our prayers
and thoughts during this awful time.

Hugs,

CatNipped

I guess I am still praying and purring for a miracle that seems even
less likely...if it is her time then may she cross the Bridge in peace
and may Allan and her family know I am thinking of them as are we all
