Default The puppy

I live in a condo in Vegas. There are 3 patches of grass in all the
condo with grass being so expensive in water and dollars. I happen to
live next to one of them with my patio right on it. The grass is very
popular with all the dogs and cats. One of my neighbors has a new puppy.
A Jack Russell puppy to be specific. The combination of the
characteristics of the breed, the natural tendencies of a puppy, being
locked up all day and finally getting outside to run and frolic on the
grass produce some seriously enthusiastic activity. He has Bruiser and
Maya in quite a state. Maya gets along well with dogs. I have no doubt
it would have been easier to bring a dog into the house than it was to
bring Bruiser in. But this puppy is just way too frentic for Maya's
taste. Reminds me a lot of the way Bruiser was as a little kitten but
even more so. She just charges in at full speed seeming to be moving in
all directions but ending up moving mostly forward tail moving too fast
to be seen leading with her nose. Way too much for lady like Maya. I
was expecting gratuitous feline on puppy violence but Maya just seems
more baffled than anything else. She runs and circles which the puppy
takes as encouragement that she wants to play. Now Bruiser is more
conflicted. He actively goes out near her. Truth be told he is totally
fascinated. She is enormously entertaining to watch, in a pinball sort
of way. He has to see what she is doing and I am sure he wants to play
with her but at the last moment he loses his nerve because its just too
much enthusiasm for him to handle and she has even less sense than he had
when he was little. She just bulls in there supremely confident that
everything in the world is just there to play with her and would be
delighted to do so, agressively playful I would guess would be one way to
put it. Bruiser did the exact same thing the first 3 months until
finally Maya began to let him know she was sick of it. I get a big kick
out of seeing Bruiser be out Bruisered.

ROFL! I love your description of the pets and their interaction. Very funny,
thanks.
