For Polonca
Polonca,
You post so much support for all of us, yet I know nothing about you and Soncek. I know you live in Slovenia but that's all. I haven't posted here for very long, would it be possible to know something about you and your cat? I might have missed it before I joined the group. Tweed |

Five years ago I was working in an office on the outskirts of Ljubljana, the
capital of Slovenia. A grey female short-haired cat started visiting the garden of the house where the office was located. Some other people working for a different company, but in the same house, and I fed her and much later we found out that she belonged to some people in the nearby block of flats who probably dumped her when she became pregnant We all took care of her and the kittens she later had. I decided to adopt one of the kittens, a female one. I wanted to wait until the kittens are 3 months old, before taking her away from her mommie. I was very torn about that decision because kids from a nearby elementary school were really mean to the kittens. When I worked I could look out the window from time to time and yell at the kids to leave the kittens alone, but I was afraid what went on in the rest of the days. Finally kittens were 3 months old and one day I brought a cage to take the girl kitten I picked home with me. But when I finished working that day the kitten I chose was nowhere to be found. I was contemplating what to do when Soncek (I named him later - that means "sunshine" in Slovene) came along. I picked him up and he promptly fell asleep in my lap. I realized that was what was meant to be, so I took Soncek home with me. When I got him home, he suddenly didn't want to cuddle anymore, he would not let me pick him up and it took years (he was 5 in June) so that he tolerates a bit more my (what must seem to him) endless show of affection. But temperatures are slowly dropping and last winter he decided that lying on my stomach while I read in bed is a good thing. I think so too. Soncek's mommie was later spayed and her kittens all found their onetruehomes. I do hope the story I wrote wasn't too long. Best wishes, -- Polonca & Soncek "Christina Websell" wrote in message ...
