Have you ever seen the gloves they wear to handle feisty and/or feral
cats? Some years ago I was mono-felinous with a cat named Ariel -- who
was known at the vet's as "Demon Cat from Hell." They had to sedate
poor Ariel to do anything to him. The initial capture so they could
inject him with sleepy juice involved heavy leather welder's gloves and
a blanket that was about an inch thick.

Oh, and even if your feral works through those, it'll probably be the
*tech* not the *vet* who will bear the scars. ;-)
