The Bassett down the street, Hugo by name, is quite charming and seems
frisky and healthy at a little under eighty pounds. And only a LITTLE
under. He was an adorable puppy last fall and now he is a handsome
young dog. He doesn't seem fat at all, just massively built on those
short legs.

I've always looked upon Basset Hounds as "full-sized" dogs on "toy"
sized legs! One of the residents here has a Dachshund that really IS
obese, because his body SHOULD be slimmer. (However, if he were a
Basset Hound, he'd be just about the right size.)

Hugo is _extremely powerful_ Usually he's a lamb on the leash and
never tugs but when he sees our Bear, he is in too much of a hurry to
greet and play, so he tugs the poor kid who was walking him right down
the street.

He was so adorable last Halloween in a little stripey prisoner suit.
This year they didn't dress him up and that's more the way I like to
do things. But that striped pillbox hat was so cute.

Mousies acting cheeky like we weren't even there.
I watched birdies dancing and singing right by our front gate..
All those critters will be gone soon, like dew in sun..

Wait - weren't you going to bathe KFC?

Only considered it after she hadn't groomed herself for years. In the end I
didn't do it. It would have be an emergency situation before I would bath a
cat, like if they'd fallen in some toxic substance, that sort of thing.
