Hoomin note: my job is being outsourced, but it's not going overseas or

pay, just for a different company. It's a stressful time, but every other
time something like this has happened to me it turned out to be good in the

Yes, it could work out better than planned, and at least you don't have to
start job searching again. Will you have to relocate? Pitô.ônya and
Sundance shur hope you don't get too stressed to post, they're having too

No, I won't have to relocate. I'll be working at the same place with the
same people, just employed by a different company. Actually, the most
stressful thing is that I'll have to find new doctors because the new
company doesn't offer the Kaiser HMO I've used for 30 years.

Corporations do curious things. Here in Canada we have universal
health care and never have to pay for doctors or hospitals, but the
politicians seem to be doing their best to mess that up, mostly by
repeated cuts to funding for the program. There are nurses here who
haven't had a raise in almost 20 years.
The government has lots of money. We have surplusses now in Canada,
and even thought there was a tax cut a few weeks ago, the government
refuses to spend any more on health care, having cut those expenses by
over 1/3.
OK, that is my rant on health care. I'm still glad we don't have HMOs
here in Canada. I go to a naturopathic clinic that is not covered by
the system. I don't trust conventional western medicine, because it
seems to be a system designed to push drugs for the large
pharmaceutical companies which gets priority over good health care.
When I went to the naturopaths I found they had simple *cures* for
several of my ailments that my previous doctors had been using
expensive and exotic drugs on me with all sorts of side effects.
OK maybe now I'm done with that topic. Thanks to Diana for letting her
human rant.
Best uv luck to Anti-Sandy. At least yu still have a toona place.
Fred is still luukin fur one an has been for sum tyme. No luck at all
yet, ceptin fur maybe teachin English as a second language in China.
But we understands your concern, yet maybe ifn yor kompany has saved
toonas by the change, youll bee more stable. We duzn't no fur shure.
Purrrz fur more kalm in yor spirit an more tyme to be a sekretary fur
Sundance an' Rebecca? is it? We're holdin you all in da light.

Humin reply: Yeah. I know what you mean; I got laid off in April, but
found another job immediately, so I quit before my termination date.
It pays a lot more money, but the hours are longer, and I have a much
longer commute. In the end, it turned out, as you say, to be good in
the long run. Hope all goes well and you don't get too stressed!

I too have been with Kaiser, for even more years.
I would find the transition difficult also.
I do like that they do a lot of preventitive medicine.
That said, I was talking with a friend this afternoon, while driving her
around close to her home, and she reported that although she was with Kaiser
for a long time, she now goes to individual MDs much closer to her home, and
finds it easier and sometimes quicker with referrals.

I guess you'll have to check with friends and neighbors.
