Default Kitty Wants Inside more

I have a kind of odd question..

We have an inside kitty, Tucker, age 1 (he's only escaped twice, and caught
immediately, so basically he has never been *freed*, but he *wants* to be!
G)
We have another kitty, James, age 4 (I know I've talked about them before,
but just in case someone who hasn't read about them, this is for their
benefit, so please bear with me.).
James is the same kitty who was beginning to check out the couch with his
claws, the one the clear packing tape worked perfectly on. James has always
been allowed outside if he wants to be. A couple weeks ago James began to
want in more and more. This doesn't bother me at all. I prefer him being in,
though I understand his wanting out and so granted that as well. He's just
always come and gone as he pleased, and it's usually been about 75% in and
25% out.
Except for the past 2 weeks. He stays in about 95% of the time now.
All I care about is if this is a normal thing or should I be looking for
other problems? He appears very healthy... he's playful, not sleeping any
more than usual- plenty of energy. Eating well. No problem using the litter
box. Still very loving and happy.
I just don't get why he's suddenly decided to stay inside so much. Again, I
*don't* mind it, I just want know if anyone has experience with this, or any
ideas?
Thanks
Hailey

He's a smart kitty :-)
We have an 11 year old cat who decided he didn't want to go out anymore also. I
think he was about 8 or so then. I think he just prefers the indoors, really.

Is it cold where you live?

Not at all. Wa state and it's rainy, but in all his life it's never bothered
him. He's sat and howled to go out, even in the rain, silly kitty! And in
the very infrequent snow we get as well.
I guess I'll try and just be happy he's wanting to be in more

Maybe there is a bigger kitty on the block and he's decided he doesn't want
to deal with it.

Count your blessings. He is not in as much danger indoors as out.
Sounds like
he's a smart kitty.
