too. Purrs from us for your success in finding him!

Done, I'm also a volunteer at a local shelter, so I have a lot of people
on the case. I told the local animal control to contact me immediately if
they pick up a cat that looks like him (and I left a flier w/ picture).
My fear is that they would mistake him for a feral and put him down.

That's the reason I put a collar on my cats, so they can never be mistaken
for a feral. BF arrived with a collar and lost it, and it took me weeks to
get him to allow me to put another one on.
One night he seemed braver than normal, and was on my armchair very late. I
stayed up until 3 a.m., but I got one on him in the end.
They cannot get strung up by them, they have an elastic insert.
When you get him back you might think about putting a collar on, if he'll
let you, or if not, trap him up somehow and take him to the vet to have a
microchip in.
