I was thinking the same thing--wow, if the water is frozen, how about
the cats? Like us they are 90-some percent water.

According to this link:

http://www.boston.com/globe/search/s...why/011298.htm

an average adult human body is only 50 to 65 percent water.

Howdy,

We have our stray cats that we take care of and are looking for a way to keep
their water bowl from
freezing. I have built them a house to live in which they like, but it just
dropped to the 20s in
the past day or so and their water bowl freezes.

I'm guessing I could get some sort of thing made for Bird Baths but was
wondering if anyone had
anything specific they have used. I'm looking for the Cheapest solution I
can find. Any
suggestions woudl be great.

I got a heated bird bath with a detachable top, and I put that top down
on the patio. All the local animals come and drink from it. It's great
right after a snow, to see all the different kinds of pawprints coming
up to it.

Thanks.

I've been reading this thread, but all the suggestions seem to require
electricity. I'm in an apartment with no way to do outdoor electric,
and I sure can't leave a window open to run a line outside! I feed
strays and ferals, and worry about the water freezing in the winter --
I change it several times a day, but there are still times it freezes.
Is there anything that is *not* electrical that can help keep the
water warm enough to keep it from freezing?

Thanks!
