Cat tails can be so fascinating. Not least to the cats themselves. Like
most Russian Blues, Miranda has a very long tail. Lately, she has been
chasing that pesky grey snake that keeps following her around. She sits
in the shower stall (her favourite place - don't ask) and suddenly
notices that grey snake waving about behind her again. Or she suddenly
notices that it has curled around her legs and is making faces at her!
So she pounces on it - almost catches it, pounces again... drat!

Just now, Mir and Cal were on their Palace, Miranda in the nest and
Caliban on the platform above her. He was watching Miranda over the edge
while his tail was swishing about over the other edge of the platform. A
grey paw shot up from the nest and bat-bat-batted the tail - or the
brown stripey snake wiggling on the platform. The more she batted, the
more the snake twitched. Finally Caliban had enough and turned around
and batted her back.

It's so fun to watch Miranda revert to kittenhood like that.

I love tails too. I was just laughing at Pearl last night. She was following
me around with her tail just swishing like mad. I think she wanted me to SIT
DOWN MOM! so she could sit on me.

Like

Smokey is very Russian-Blue like but his tail is of fairly average
length. Tyche's is a bit longer, and Kumani's is
SO long that she can't keep it up straight and so it curls over at the
top into a question mark!

But most impressive is the tail of Nocturne which she can shove up
into her mouth and chew on.

Dante's tail is interesting to me because he arrived with one of those
little ratty-carrot kitten tails and now his tail resembled bridge
cable.

A friend of mine recently observed that Licky does all sorts of interesting
things with his tail. No matter what position he's in, or what kind of mood
he's in, his tail seems to act independently, and will curl in many different
directions and shapes. It always looks attractive, as though he's adopting
various poses for a camera. As my friend put it, "He's voguing with his tail!"

Ketzl has a very "expressive" tail; it's always moving one way or another,
even when he's asleep. The very tip just moves ever so slightly every so
often.

When he's awake, it's all over the place, including "Wap Mode." When he's
stretched out cat-napping on the back of the sofa behind my head, all I have
to do is say something to him (often a kind of sassy comment) and without
moving a hair elsewhere, he waps me with his tail. "I heard that!" It's so
funny. I guess he doesn't really *like* being called things like "Chubbo."

Funny, though: to him I really think that "Fatso" and "Ketzl" sound alike. I
don't get wapped when I call him Fatso.

Nina's tail is like that, very long and thick and it curls up and
over her back when it's in relaxed mode. I'm a fancier of striped
tails, and I've got a lovely pair of banded tails, thanks to my
girls. Francesca mostly holds her tail up or at most at half mast
when she's strolling around in the aprtment. It's not as long as
Nina's and she has better control over it. Now and then she'll move it
from side to side, and she's great at lashing it when she's after her
toys. =o)

Caliban's tail is short and stubby - it looks like the tip has been cut
off, it just ends too suddenly.

Frank had one of those perpetual motion tails. It was never completely
still, not even when he was sleeping. This made it an irresistible
target for little kittens.

Nikki had the funniest tail. She would curl it around Frank's back if
they were walking side by side, if she walked alone she would point her
tail forward over her back, she would floof parts of her tail, like just
the tip, or the middle, or the base and the tip, for no apparent reason.
It wasn't very long, but she would often curl it in a question mark. And
she would 'forget' it:

Or just air it:
