Default Discovered - The Sink Culprit

It happened right before our eyes yesterday. Bonnie jumped onto the
bench, hopped into the sink and sat on the plug hole, argggggggh. We
both began shouting and pounding the stainless steel sink top. Her
ladyship stopped in mid-pee and somersaulted in the air. No, she
wasn't smacked or hurt in anyway - although it was a temptation. We
don't smack the kitties.

I had thought Clyde was the guilty one but I should have known!! Last
night we tried the aluminium tin foil. This morning it was peeless -
so far so good. Will keep you posted.

Bev

You should try to teach her to use the toilet - that would be a saving on
kitty litter!

LOL! What a mistake she made! Feeling so comfortable as to wee in the sink
right in front of you - although I wouldn't like it if mine did it, it
occurred to me how much easier than cleaning out a litter box. I'm lucky.
My two use the great outdoors for their toilet duties, although it has been
known that Kitty will wee on my woodstore in the lounge (I have a
woodburner) if it's raining. I usually notice her and if I say "Hey, Kitty,
what ARE you doing?" she will dash towards the back door to be let out. She
knows she shouldn't wee in the house.
I don't ever smack my cats either. I think it's only for extreme
circumstances when the animal will understand why you are doing it and it
will have an effect. I almost never smacked my dogs. There were two things
I wouldn't tolerate, firstly if they ever showed any temper towards me, and
secondly if they stole food. I would smack them for the first and tell them
off severely for the second.
The worst thing I could do to admonish my dogs was to say " *BY* gum" in a
gruff voice. It's a Yorkshire expression. They hated it. They would slink
away if they'd been "by gummed." Another phrase that had the same effect was
" *MY* word a'mee" Don't ask ;-)

Excellent! Keep us posted. Sounds like the foil is the key.

I continually learn things on this group. Until I read here I had no idea
that kitties didn't like aluminium foil. As a matter of interest, as I know
you are in NZ, how do you pronounce the word aluminium? Like a Brit -
alliminyum, or like an American - aloominum?

Probably, they pronounce it like they spell it. Americans actually
spell aluminum differently from the British, for historical reasons:

We pronounce the word aluminium like a Brit, 'Al you miny um'.Our
country was colonized by Brits so we tend to use words and customs from
their country.

B & C have access to outside all day now and SHOULD use the great
outdoors for toilet. But what do they do? They come inside and use
the fresh litter tray! I am trying to train them to use 'outside' but
it is a job breaking them of the habit.
