Default Purrs for Peter (DH)

Peter(DH) hasn't been feeling well the past few days. He has a pain on his
left side for one thing. First thing he starts talking about are 2 guys he
know that died of colon cancer. Just what I don't need to hear.

He went to our family doctor Friday and has a appointment with a specialist
on Wed. Right new we're not sure what is wrong.

I have been a wreck the past few days worrying about him. I'll let you know
if we learn any thing Wednesday.

Best wishes for Peter that it is nothing serious. Maybe he pulled a
muscle or something.

Purrs that Peter's problem isn't serious and easily treated.

Thank you all for the purrs.

He is feeling better today and did go to work. What ever it is we can deal
with it. It's just not knowing what is wrong that is bothering both of us.

Of course it didn't help with Peter talking about having some of the same
symptoms that the 2 guys knew that had colon cancer and have died from it.
He came home from work early Friday and started talking about them. Then he
goes on to say if it's some thing serious and has a low survival rate he
does want to run up a large medical bill for nothing.

I finally said just wait until we know what is wrong before you start
thinking the worst. It could some thing as simple as changing his diet.

More purrs on the way. Honestly, the same kind of thing could be
something like IBS, which is annoying, and *can* be debilitating in
some ways, but you can usually figure out your triggers and it is
certainly not life threatening! I really hope that he finds it is just
something fixable and he really shouldn't jump to cancer (though I know
IBS can make you feel crappy enough to think it's that serious. It did
me!! I really thought "this HAS to be something horrible". But a year
later and I am really pretty much back to normal with some diet
changes).

Even Colon cancer doesn't have to be the kiss of death. One of the
members of our cancer support group was diagnosed with it and is still
living 10 years later. I suggest that you look it up and see what
Peter's symptoms suggest. I have IBS with diarrhea and it is
miserable, but I can still control it more or less. Stress really
brings out the problem. Monique can tell you all about Crohn's
disease which is much nastier than IBS.

The December Reader's Digest has one of those ask the Dr pages which
talk briefly about the symptoms of various complaints. From the
symptoms and the article, I'd be asking about Diverticulitis and the
possibility of Peter having it. While serious, it can be treated
without surgery in most cases and is not as scary as it sounds.

Meanwhile Purrs and healthy thoughts and wishes are coming from the
