(Long) The Prophet Speaks: A Welcome at the Bridge
And it came to pass that the Great Cat, who is of many names and has
been called Fritzie of the House of Singh, did arise from beneath His exalted Rosebush in the Elysian Plains, and enter the very Fields of Catnip which groweth the flight of an Arrow from the Sacred Bridge. And it came to pass that the Great Cat did hear a Sound like unto one of His own Kind, yea, even that of Paws across that Mighty Bow of Light. And the Great Cat did straightaway greet the Traveller, yea, even with the very Kiss of Friendship, and did say, Welcom, Friend and Brother, for thou art Tiger, and I do know thee. And Tiger sayeth, What wonder is this Place, Friend and Brother? For verily there is neither pain in my Bodily Form, nor fear within my Heart. And the Great Cat sayeth, Take thou thy Repose, for thy Reward is well- earnt. Behold, the very buds of choicest Catnip bow their heads unto thee, for well didst thou perform thy Labours in the World of Men, for thou didst love thy Heart-Mother to the very Depth of they Soul. And Tiger did say, Yea, my very Heart is sore for her, for she grieveth with the Wounds of Arrows unto the core of her Being. And the Great Cat did say unto him, It is natural unto such Beings as walk the Earth upon two legs, that they grieve when a dear one has departed them. For Grief is the price of Love, verily as Love is the price of Grief. It is a sore burden verily, but the very Pearl of a human soul. And Tiger sayeth, Behold these Children of Men, for their voices rise unto these very Heavens, and speak sorely amongst themselves. And the Great Cat spake, saying, Yea, they are a great people, but understandeth not. For behold, thy Maker cometh unto the Bridge, and verily hath many names, but is The Boss of all that hath Life. And Tiger beheld and did ponder the Glory of it within his Heart and spake, saying, What Wonder is this, Friend and Brother? For verily I see one Boss, yet many; Man, yet Woman; of Bodily Form, yet without Form; and The Boss is as pale as the petals of a very Daisy yet as dark as most fertile Earth. And the Great Cat was pleased and sayeth, Verily understandest thou this Mystery. And The Boss did greet Tiger and spake, saying, Dear One, thou art welcome. Rest from thy Labours in the World of Men, for it verily be but a blink of thine Eye before thou seest thy Heart-Mother again. But Tiger was sore trouble and sayeth, Verily I cannot rest until the strife among the Folk of my Heart be stilled. And The Boss did say, Then whisper My message in the least stirrings of the Breeze, and shout it in the roar of the very Thunders, that neither Color, nor Creed, nor Borders of Nations abide in My land, but Love alone doth abide. For the Mother of they Heart didst verily love thee, Dear One. And Tiger spake, saying, Verily I shall whisper Love on the winds and roar it among the Thunders, and the Mother of my Heart shall feel my purr from these heights until we meet again. And I shall verily teach the young souls who must enter the World of Men, that they love for the very sake of love, for upon this their World turneth, and the Children of Men must learn from those who go about on their four legs, and upon graceful wings and luminous scales, for mine eyes are opened and I see that we love them as doth The Boss, and hath no conditions. And he did look down into the World of Men and spake, saying, So shall I do this upon the morrow, for I shall blink mine eye and nap, and behold, my Mother! Thou shalt be with me again, and shall know no more sorrow, nor the Arrows of thy Pain! And he did see the Smile of his Heart-Mother, for she did feel in her soul the distant Thunders of The Most Glorious Sound of Purr, for verily Love doth ever abide and crusheth the Arrows of Pain. *** Rest in peace, dear Tiger, and all those who have gone before us.
