This is why my catnip never seems to grow.

That'll do it! I once tried to grow catnip directly in the ground. I
ended up with a slightly saucer-shaped empty spot in the garden where
the plant had grown. It was larger than the original plant - I think all
the local felines, on discovering the delicacy, had enjoyed it with such
enthusiasm that they'd destroyed some neigbouring plants as well.

Baggy looks after his catnip, he says regular pruning helps. :-)

Well, what do you want? A pot of luxurious catnip, or happy, stoned cats?

I make a little dome with chicken wire over the catnip plant when it
first sprouts in the spring. That way the leaves grow through it and
the cats can't flatten it or pull it out. Works well every year.

Yes, the question comes to mind as to why one would grow catnip to
begin with, if not to keep your cats happy and stoned?

Well, if they would give it a couple of days till the leaves are bigger than
seed pearls....

This pot is the remainder of the one I did that with last year. They killed
the cage, and it was pretty sturdy. This has a really healthy root system,
so I've got to find or build it a new cage.
