Default Boyfie's injections

Both Boyfie & Tigger got their letter from TED. I usually make the
appointment but Claire promised she would do it this time and Maisie too but
hasn't.
The problem is that she is so busy, with having three children and working
so I will do it myself next week. I will also make an appointment for
Maisie, their Cavalier to have her injections done a week later. She's now
3-4 years old and hasn't had her jabs since she was a puppy.

TBH, I doubt Tigger would have had his, had I not insisted that Boyfie &
Tigger went together.
They've not met each other except in their carriers in the car when they
both meow their heads off pathetically like they expect to die.
They both go into the examination room together. Tigger tries to be brave
on the table but his paws leave sweaty
marks.
Boyfie does flat cat "please don't kill me."
Anyway, it's time for them both to have them, so I guess I'll have to make
the appointment myself.
Plus one for Maisie.

So much fuss to get them there but none whatsoever to get them back. Mine
have all got back into their carriers on their own to come home.

I try and trick him by putting his carrier in the lounge and putting nice
things in it to eat, he says "do you think I am stupid, that's the way to
the vet"

LOL! As much as mine love their Temptation treats, they aren't fooled by
that either.

Same here. I used to tell people that Holly(RB) developed 8 legs when it
was time to put her in the carrier--and Duffy develops 16. All of them, of
course, are sticking straight out to the side to make it difficult to get
them in the carrier. Then, once we arrive at TED, the process is reversed
and I have to close the carrier or put it on the floor to prevent them from
climbing back inside.

Tigger races back inside his carrier to come home but Boyfie doesn't, it's
nearly as difficult to get him back in as it was in the first place. He has
a deep distrust of his box and probably thinks I'm going to take him
somewhere else equally nasty afterwards.
The appointment is for next Monday afternoon. I'll try and get some pics of
him "being brave (or not)" with TED. His appointment is with Alison who
is great, she microchipped him, and is very calm and quiet.
She also operated on one of whippets with a mast cell tumour on his face,
referred him to Cambridge University for chemotherapy afterwards which was
completed but unfortunately after a few months he was not able to be saved.
It's nicer for Boyfie to have his appointment with a female vet as he is
less scared. It's still 10/10 on the scary scale for him though, although a
male vet sends it up to "just let me die now on this table.."
Tigger is not bothered either way. He's far more confident, being important
and regal and he makes a good show of not caring - although his sweaty
pawprints on the vet's table tell a different story.
Maisie will get her appointment booked when we take the cats. Claire is
scared to take her by herself so I will go with her. She's scared because
that is one badly behaved little dog who screams at other dogs (waiting room
problems for sure) and has had pretty well zero discipline.

When we go with Maisie, I will take Boyfie's box with me and if she starts
been obnoxious with other dogs, I'll just pop her in there.
Don't get me wrong, Claire is so kind and loving towards her dog that she
never wanted to correct her and now she's reaping the reward. I so wish she
had been mine, but she isn't and I got told off by my brother because I
knocked her away (gently) from getting up on to the table and helping
herself to my Christmas dinner. !!
Anyway, that's a potentially good dog ruined but at least she will get her
injections.
I do wish that people would not think that is kind to not train a dog in
manners in case it upsets them. Dogs expect and need guidance from the pack
leader, which has to be the owner.

I expect it to go well when Maisie goes to to the vet. She will not be
allowed to "show me up" by yapping and threatening others in the waiting
room. I will try her for good behaviour but if she does it, she will be put
in Boyfie's box and it will be turned towards the wall so she cannot see the
others while she waits.

I have offered advice on all things Maisie when she did things they didn't
want but they never took it because it involved not letting her do exactly
what she wanted so I did what I could.

She's going to get her jabs very soon and I don't care a jot about worrying
about her being naughty in the waiting room - that will not happen.
Unfortunately as she has missed her yearly boosters, we'll have to do it
twice.
Wouldn't be so bad if she was a big dangerous dog, she's a small Cavalier
King Charles Spaniel!!
I have a lovely pic of her somewhere on my computer.
I'll try and find it and upload it to my Flickr page. You'll all say Awwww.

It's on for Monday, Claire will come early so I can scoop him from his
bedroom (unless he sees me coming first) and we can get him into his box
between us. If he sees me coming and I have moved his box from his bedroom,
well, that's a bit chancy for meowmie to do that and It Can Only Mean One
Thing.

Claire has agreed to take her camera along to record him being Very Brave
(or not) at TED's. Tigger too.

Good luck scooping him up! It sometimes makes me sad how upset they get
going to TED but they have to.

Boyfie is likely to be in his bedroom, snoozing, and I chose the appointment
time because I knew that. Sometimes we have to do what we have to do.
His bedroom is his own and I almost never go in there when he is asleep. I
will have to snatch him up by the scruff of the neck and he will dangle
while I take him downstairs, he never struggles or tries to scratch, bless
his beautiful heart. Then we have to get him into his box. He resists by
getting bigger somehow.
I always feel so bad about it but it has to be done.

When my own mother said when I was a child "it's for your own good" I knew
it would be not nice. That's all can say to him. It's for his own good.
He's isn't going to get cat flu and all diseases his injections protect him
from so although he hates the whole process, it's really too bad.
I am hoping to get pics of him and Tigger being brave at TEDs on Monday.

Persia gets so upset on trips to the vet, not only does she yowl, she
throws up. That is not pleasant for either of us. After the last
several times of that, I decided to pay extra for a housecall. Of
course they can only do basic stuff here at the house. Weight,
temperature, draw blood, urine, get a fecal sample. I did have to take
her for some follow-ups.

BUT, in an emergency her vet is on call. Other vets in the area don't
offer that. You get a message saying take them to an emergency vet in
Savannah, over 50 miles away!

I'm extremely lucky on three counts. (1) the vet makes housecalls; (2)
after hours service; (3) I don't have to get Persia into the carrier.

There's a door to every room of this house. I can gradually close off
each room, leaving us in the living room. So far it's been easy to
trick her. She likes to be near me. She's used to me spending time
here on the computer. She doesn't notice, as I gradually go from room
to room, but always back to the computer, I've closed a door behind me.
And then another, and so on. Thus blocking her escape to any other
room. Devious, no?

When the doorbell rings, she wants to hide. But she finds the only
place to go is under the couch. I can easily get her out from under the
couch. No, she's not happy about it. She's also not throwing up in her
carrier. On more than one occasion, I've been forced to give her a bath
after she threw up on the drive home. I'm pretty sure she'd tell you
she didn't enjoy it.
