Elizabeth isn't the only one to have her purse taken. However, this was my
fault.

I was upset. I'd been without any food today since 9 am. It was 4 pm. I'm
diabetic and have problems if I'm stupid enough not to eat at regular
intervals. I was also in CarMax getting the motors for the electric windows
replaced from 9:30 until 3pm. I get home and find that the kids caused the
supplies of cat and dog food to be ruined. I'm not happy. I take the group
to McDonalds to get something quick and reasonably good. The burger I got
was so nasty and greasy that the grease was pooling in the bottom of the
container. Not only that but the fries had been re-fried. I complained
about the burger refused to eat the fries. Mandy threw a sulking fit. I
got up to go to the bathroom, after asking the kids to remind me not to
forget my purse. I come back from the bathroom, my replacement hamburger is
waiting for me. I eat, ask that we leave right away so that we can get the
food out of the house before the owners eat it. Not only had the kids
ruined the food, but they'd left it there for the owners to eat. Sigh. I
drive home the kids take the food to the dumpster. We drive to PetSmart, I
reach for my purse so we can go into the store, no purse. We dash back to
McDonalds. No sign of the purse, counter girl gives me a run around, as
does one of the interior staff persons. I finally talk to the manager, he
says no sign of it. I call the police. An hour has gone by. I call the
bank and cancel my debit card and put a hold on my checking account. I make
a police report. Problem, not only are my check book and debit card in the
purse, but my mortgage payment in the form of a cashier's check is also in
there. Because of the mess the kids have made with the cat food, there was
no time today to get it mailed out. I have to go back to the bank tomorrow
and try to get a new check issued. Worse, my house keys and Mike's car keys
were in there because I'd separated them from the van keys when I handed the
keys over so they could work on the van. My wallet with Driver's license,
student ID, Military dependant ID, $200 and about $6.00 in change were in
there. So was my cell phone. No insurance on the cell phone. Cost to
replace it? $150.

So Mandy is going around throwing a hissy fit because I'd been mad at her
and Mike before I noticed the purse was taken and now it is all her fault.
Mike is going to have to take me around to replace ID cards etc. I have to
change the bank account and all my payment information. and so forth. Yes,
I'm whining. Hard. A Lot. Yes, I'm mad at the kids as well as myself for
being so stupid as to forget to grab my purse. I'm really mad at Mandy for
not only forgetting to take care of the pets' food like I'd asked, but to
whine and throw a hissy about it which added to my stress and helped me act
stupid. My own fault, I know, but let me feel sorry about it for a while.

No wonder you left your purse, with all those distractions. Anyone
could do that.
It is NOT a stupid thing to do!
I hate that you have to go thru the hassle of cancelling lost ID stuff
and getting
replacements.
I know you're not asking for "unsolicited advice"....but hey. My purse
turned up
on the side of the road. You might drive around the McD's and even
check the dumpsters. All the scumbags probably wanted was the cash.

Pam, I just had a weird thought. I lose my cellphone all the time and
have
to call it to find it. Did you try calling it while you were in McD's?

How awful. So at least today I don't have the stupidest, most thoughtless,
unreasonable kids on the planet.

Mandy is just sulking because if she doesn't you might be able to
concentrate enough to kill her. Figuratively of course.

Do try calling the phone.

Also check to see if you have any coverage for this sort of thing on your
homeowners insurance. Sounds like you may have hit the deductible.

Oh Pam, that really sucks, to sound like the kids. There isn't anything I
can say but I can add a couple glasses of wine to the table. You won't get
your purse back but, between all the drinks, you will forget the pain when
your head starts hurting.

Really, I am so sorry and hope that at least the paperwork stuff comes back.
I know how hard it is to get things replaced. You got my email, rant

Beat me to it - I was going to say the same thing!

Pam:

I'm so sorry, it sounds like a horrible mess. And I know all about the
mindset of self-abuse you're in, calling yourself stupid and blaming
yourself for what some creeps did to you. A classic victim response,
actually, especially if you're prone to self-blame and self-hate to
being with.

But the truth is, IT IS NOT WITHIN HUMAN CAPACITY to keep your attention
100% on everything you need to be tracking, 24/7. Everyone's mind wanders,
especially when they have a zillion distractions. You've gotta cut yourself
a break, or at least, *try* to! It sucks enough trying to cope with the
hassle of all that replacing you have to do. (NOTE: BOBBLE IS RIGHT,
CHANGE YOUR LOCKS.)

One other question... how exactly did the demon children ruin the cat
and dog food?? That's quite a ******* child trick. (Um, that is, not
*literal* ******* children, LOL, although you might be wishing they were.)

How awful. So at least today I don't have the stupidest, most
thoughtless, unreasonable kids on the planet.

Mandy is just sulking because if she doesn't you might be able to
concentrate enough to kill her. Figuratively of course.

Do try calling the phone.

Also check to see if you have any coverage for this sort of thing on your
homeowners insurance. Sounds like you may have hit the deductible.

Elizabeth isn't the only one to have her purse taken. However, this was
my fault.

I was upset. I'd been without any food today since 9 am. It was 4 pm.
I'm diabetic and have problems if I'm stupid enough not to eat at regular
intervals. I was also in CarMax getting the motors for the electric
windows replaced from 9:30 until 3pm. I get home and find that the kids
caused the supplies of cat and dog food to be ruined. I'm not happy. I
take the group to McDonalds to get something quick and reasonably good.
The burger I got was so nasty and greasy that the grease was pooling in
the bottom of the container. Not only that but the fries had been
re-fried. I complained about the burger refused to eat the fries. Mandy
threw a sulking fit. I got up to go to the bathroom, after asking the
kids to remind me not to forget my purse. I come back from the bathroom,
my replacement hamburger is waiting for me. I eat, ask that we leave
right away so that we can get the food out of the house before the owners
eat it. Not only had the kids ruined the food, but they'd left it there
for the owners to eat. Sigh. I drive home the kids take the food to the
dumpster. We drive to PetSmart, I reach for my purse so we can go into
the store, no purse. We dash back to McDonalds. No sign of the purse,
counter girl gives me a run around, as does one of the interior staff
persons. I finally talk to the manager, he says no sign of it. I call
the police. An hour has gone by. I call the bank and cancel my debit
card and put a hold on my checking account. I make a police report.
Problem, not only are my check book and debit card in the purse, but my
mortgage payment in the form of a cashier's check is also in there.
Because of the mess the kids have made with the cat food, there was no
time today to get it mailed out. I have to go back to the bank tomorrow
and try to get a new check issued. Worse, my house keys and Mike's car
keys were in there because I'd separated them from the van keys when I
handed the keys over so they could work on the van. My wallet with
Driver's license, student ID, Military dependant ID, $200 and about $6.00
in change were in there. So was my cell phone. No insurance on the cell
phone. Cost to replace it? $150.

So Mandy is going around throwing a hissy fit because I'd been mad at her
and Mike before I noticed the purse was taken and now it is all her
fault. Mike is going to have to take me around to replace ID cards etc. I
have to change the bank account and all my payment information. and so
forth. Yes, I'm whining. Hard. A Lot. Yes, I'm mad at the kids as well
as myself for being so stupid as to forget to grab my purse. I'm really
mad at Mandy for not only forgetting to take care of the pets' food like
I'd asked, but to whine and throw a hissy about it which added to my
stress and helped me act stupid. My own fault, I know, but let me feel
sorry about it for a while.
