In one simple statement, I'm 'good'. After nearly a full day in
ER, I have
a room, a couple high doses of antibiotics, nearly managed to
notify folks,
and a diet cola.

I expect to be here for three days.

I'm glad you got a decent doctor and the right treatment!!

Get well. You must be pretty sick indeed if the hospital is
keeping
you for 3 whole days. Purrs from my gang!

This sounds more like the hospital has figured out they need to
cover their asses for missing the proper diagnosis the first time he
was there.

Glad youare getting the treatment you need and that you are now 'good'.
Purrs for your continued recovery... and once you are well enough, write
to some authority to complain about that idiot doctor who - had youtaken
their advice - would have most likely killed you with neglect.

Yowie

I agree with Yowie! That doctor needs to be reported to the medical board,
the AMA and whoever else you can think of.

purrs and gentle headbutts on the way, Mark. Purrs of Senyah as well.
I'm sure she is terribly worried about you. I'm glad they've found
the cause of your problems and you are getting the correct treatment
now. Enjoy whatever you are reading, cos I'm sure you have to be
reading something while you are stuck in a hospital bed.

I had general surgery in the infected area yesterday, and am in ICU today.
I just had breakfast, which helps, and am feeling human.

Senyah's son is taking care of her and the kitties.

I'm so glad you got diagnosed. Hope the infection responds quickly,
they usually
do with the right antibiotics.
And glad you fired the doc. I've fired lots of doctors. One who kept
giving me
antidepressants for chest pain. I ended up with quadruple bypass after
going
to the ER. I was young, slim, and passed an electrocardiogram,
thalium test
and echo. The doctor just blew me off after that instead of ordering
more tests.

I'm glad you're finally getting the care you need, and that Senyah and the
kitties are also well looked after. I hope you can heal quickly now.

Correction: you were young, slim, and *female*. "It's all in your
head" is a classic line doctors say to women, more so in the past than
now, but it does still happen. And yes, it happens to men, too - such
as Mark! But definitely to women more often.

Joel's mother is not here any more because a doctor blew her concerns off as
'all in her head'. By the time she saw a different doctor, the cancer had
spread too far and it was terminal. The lesson I've learnt and would tell
everyone I know is that if you are not happy with the level of care or the
diagnosis, keep searching until you find a doctor you can trust and get as
many opinions as you need.

That and ask alot of questions as to why they are making the diagnosis they
are making - ask them to 'show their reasoning'. Couldn't say my own GP has
the best bed-side manner but he's never had any problem explaining to me
what is going on and why, and thus I trust him far more than any doctor
(bedside manner or no) who makes a statement or a diagnosis 'ex cathedra'
and doesn't listen to their patient's concerns.
