Where's MLB
Has everyone noticed the frequent poster MLB hasn't been on this board
in over two months? I believe he/she (?) is relatively elderly; I hope things are going OK. Art |

Maybe make it a little easier on your eyes? Congrats on the 7th great grandchild! Jill |

Thanks, Art. I'm not eldeerly I am old and my eyes are failing. Glad you're still kicking! Are you aware of the inbuilt On Screen Magnifier built into recent versions of Windows? I use it myself on things with ridiculously small print, such as some of the multi-panel Sunday comics I read online. I have five cats, not four, since the acquisition of the new one in late July. I named her Thud, as a little cat should have a little name. Let's see: Watermelon is still doing fine considering his age. Nothing remarkable to report. Niobe, the little Russian Blue, is still a holy terror. But she's a happy kitty and can be quite sweet when she wants to be. Emma had major surgery for her face tumor in August. The biopsy showed that it had gone beyond the area removed, unfortunately. She recovered amazingly well for a 14 year old cat, but it's starting to come back on the other side of her face. The specialist estimated three more months before we'd be faced with putting her down - that was at her last appointment on Sept. 23. It's very sad but right now I have no problems. Giovanni still pees all over the house every so often, but otherwise has settled down nicely. It's been well over a year since he stayed out all night, and it used to happen 3-4 times a week. I'd be up all night. I always liked huge cats, and he certainly qualifies. Thud is still scared of people, but if she's on something like the bed or a piece of furniture I can usually - not always - give her some affection. But she had INSTANTLY taken to Giovanni with an intensity I've never seen. She won't leave him alone, follows him all over, nuzzles him, and purrs loudly if he's anywhere in sight. Giovanni, on the other hand, couldn't care less about Thud. I've posted a picture of the two of them together: http://www.ocrebels.com/ThudAndGiovanni.jpg Art |

Giovanni, on the other hand, couldn't care less about Thud. She might win him over through sheer persistence. It worked for Viktor. It reminds me of something I read once: "You can't make anyone love you. All you can do is stalk them until they panic and give in." Apologies to anyone who has been stalked by someone scary, but I think this philosophy might actually work for cats. I've posted a picture of the two of them together: http://www.ocrebels.com/ThudAndGiovanni.jpg That's adorable. Giovanni does look annoyed. Come to think of it, Thud doesn't look too pleased either. She's a pretty cat. Does her name come from the sound of her jumping off the counter? Or the sound of people fainting from her cuteness? -- Joyce "Riveting reading that keeps readers reading." -- The Midwest Book Review |

You'd think a big macho stud like Giovanni would like a trophy wife, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Just tonight she was tormenting him while he was trying to get his beauty rest, and he ended up roughing her up a little (which she seemed to enjoy). I'm afraid he could rip her in half if he wanted to. His jaws are like a bench vise - Giovanni is a staggeringly powerful cat. Does her name come from the sound of her jumping off the counter? Or the sound of people fainting from her cuteness? I wanted to give her a short name that conveyed a powerful image, just as an ego booster. Alas, she's completely non-responsive to the name. Art |

Art My neighbor named a new stray Elsie because she looked just like the cow. Big white with large brown and black spots. Just when Elsie started to respond to the name, we got close enough to observe that Elsie was a boy. So now we have to get him used to Elmer. |

w I posted a response to this Monday night but it apparently went astray. Thud is beautiful but IMHO a beautiful girl needs a beautiful name. The pix reminds me of Beauty and the beast. U'm sorry Emma has such a bad ailment, TuTu and I send our best for her comfort. Re my reading problem. I don't haveWindows., My son installed Linux years ago. We've tried magnification but it really doesn't help a lot. A really strong contrast might help -- everything seems so pale. A retinal specia;ist tried a new treatment but that doesn't help either == just worn out apparently. I have to do a lot of correcting on my messages/\As I have said many times. Utah weather is either too hot or too cold. We seemed to go right into winter after a very hot simmer. The ski resorts have had snow and a small amount in the valley but it is supposed to warm up some now --. Best wishes to you and your furkids. MLB |
