Default Cat not eating much again

I guess we are gonna go thru this again. After these months of feeding Renal
LP and the cat eating it, about the time the vet said he could go off of it,
he decided he didn't want it anymore, ok no problem, time to start finding
something he likes anyway. He just last weekend had a follow up blood test
to make sure everything was clear, and it was. For the last week and a half
have been giving him Nutro pouch food which he gobbled up pretty well and a
small handful a day of dry Renal Lp that we had left over. Well now he won't
hardly touch any of it. He seems to lap up some of the juices from the wet
food but that's about it. Just don't know what to do for him any more.

I know exactly how you feel. See my earlier thread about my woes regarding
renal diet and CRF.

My cat has never liked 'wet' food and used to just lick the gravy off. She
was recently back on Whiskas dry food in desperation to get her to eat
SOMETHING. At the time - she was eating nothing at all.

I've now managed to get her back onto a renal diet - she's currently eating
Walthams dry food and doing well.

It may be that for a short while you'll have to give him what you know he
likes - even if it's not in the diet. Some food is better than none - and
after all - enjoying food is a quality of life issue. Once he starts eating
again you may be able to gradually wean him over to what he should be
eating.

My cat never did return to what she was originally on - Hills k/d - but at
least she is on something she now seems to like.

good luck

sarah
