Default Midnight has an eye ulcer

I haven't been online much because I've been ministering to Midnight who
managed to develop an ulcerated eye since Friday night. The vet has me
giving her eyedrops every 4 hours around the clock (yawn) and I'm due to
take her in for a recheck in a little while. The good news is that I can
already tell the medicine is helping as her eye has gone from icky and
totally closed to mostly open and the drainage is much much less. The bad
news for her is having to wear that awful cone; she is NOT pleased with that
although she is so smart she has adapted pretty well. I don't look forward
to trying to get her back into the carrier with it on though here in a
little bit.

Meanwhile, purrs for everyone and I'll be back asap.
Christine

Eye ulcers can be bad news. Sometimes vets will sew the eye closed to help
it heal in dogs. Glad to hear the eye drops are helping Midnight even
though it's keeping you up during the night.

Christine, we went the rounds with Yoda with eye ulcers. It just got
worse
even with the eyedrops. Ultimately the vet medicated the eye and sewed
it
shut for, I think, 10 days or so. The procedure was twofold; it kept
the
eye medicated and allowed it to heal itself. It worked very well. The
scarring is so bad I'm sure he can[t see out of the eye, but it never
runs
and he doesn't squinch, so I am sure it doesn't bother him.
I hope Midnight's eye improves quickly with the drops. Just wanted to
let
you know there is a procedure that worked very well for us, without
having to remove the eyeball. (Although I've seen that done on a lot
of cats at the shelter, amazingly they recover really well from that)
The vet also said usually they see eye ulcers in cats that have
autimmune disease, but Yoda checked out okay for that. I don't know
what really caused it.

I hope that by this time the vet check is over and it didn't go too badly.
Purrs for continued healing. I hope she can soon have the cone off, if it
isn't off already.
