Poor Dusty! And poor you for having to medicate him.
Lots of purrs and best wishes for Dusty to recover really soon,

I had to take the furbag back to TED today. His eye just isn't healing

up.
After 1 week of goop in the eye 3 times a day it is much better but he is

still
squinty and the membranes are red. So now TED gave me a script for eye

drops.
Had to fill them at my pharmacy. These need to be given FOUR times a day.

Good thing is he didn't lose any more weight over the week, he was actually
up a
bit. He is so bony. I miss cuddling with my plump, muscular kitty.

I hope Dusty continues to eat. Spicey will purr for his eye and good test
results.

Thanks for the all the purrs. Dusty has no idea how many people care about his
stinky carcass!

TED called this morning and the good news is that his kidney levels were good
and he gained 1/2 pound. That's a lot in one week. Of course he is eating just
fine. I have used the drops 5 times so far and his eye seems so much better.
She figured the stuff we used the first time irritated his eye. These drops are
a breeze. One drop in one eye. He doesn't even flinch so that is going very
well.

His liver levels were all elavated and his thyroid checked out in the "gray
area" as she called it. His urine was slightly diluted as well. She wants to
do a full thyroid workup then see what that tells us. She said since he is
isn't acting sick, isn't vomiting and is eating like a pig she wouldn't want to
do anything evasive to check the liver further. She also wants to try and
anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic to see if that affects the liver. Also she
is suspecting a thyroid problem which in itself may be causing some of these
readings on the bloodwork and the gallop in his heartbeat. I guess the thyroid
be regulated with medication.

Dusty has been pretty active today. He woke me up by dancing on my head, guess
what he wanted? To hear the pop of a can of food! Little *******. They learn
quick. He followed me around the house and kept getting me to follow him back
to the laundry room (where he is fed his wet food). I caught him playing with
his gray fuzzy mouse and he spent over an hour laying in a sunpatch bathing. I
have to bring him back on Thursday so they can take more blood and they she
wants to listen to this heart and check his eye.

I like this new vet. I can get right in. They call right back with results.
They staff is nice. TED herself is somewhat clinical and unemotional when
delivering news (so very different from Kody's vet, he was very emotional) but
TED has cats herself and understands the slave bond(age) thing. Heck, she has
her own stand alone practice just devoted to cats. That's what I like best of
all. Just cats. Yesterday "office cat" ignored me big time. She glared at
Dusty from her perch on the shelf with the cat food in it. I noticed she was
wearing those little rubber things on her claws. They were red. It looked like
she had the most perfect OPI Big Apple Red (brand of nail polish) manicure! LOL.
I am going to bring a pic of Dusty for the big bulliten board in the waiting
room. I didn't see ANY cats in a tu-tu! So thanks again and I will know more
on Friday.

Glad to hear the Dustster is doing so much better. Here's hoping that all
his problems are due to a thyroid problem, because that is easy to fix. His
symptoms sound exactly like Frank's - he lost half his weight while eating
like a pig, and his heart was beating much too fast. Frank is doing well now
on his meds, and regained some, though not all, of his "fluffiness". Me and
the two hyperthyroid cats here will keep purring for Dusty.

Purrs and feeling good thoughts and wishes for Dusty and you. The Dust
isn't that old. Tanada is 11 and Berfert is 10 and they both act pretty
young. We've been feeding baby food after we pill QC and The Berf. It
helps make the medicine go down a little bit easier. Veal and lamb are
their most favorite flavors of them all.

I had to take the furbag back to TED today. His eye just isn't healing

up.
After 1 week of goop in the eye 3 times a day it is much better but he is

still

drops.
Had to fill them at my pharmacy. These need to be given FOUR times a day.
Sheesh. He is going to hate me by the time this eye heals. TED also said

he
had a little "gallop" to his heartbeat that wasn't there last week. She

didn't
seem too concerned about it. Talked a bit about heart disease in cats and
thyroid and kidney and liver damage.

So I went ahead and had the "Senior" cat exam and blood work up done.

They took
urine too. I asked, "How the heck did you get urine?". The vet tech

replied,
"With a needle." I sheepishly replied, "oh". Poor Dusty. He has started
eating some canned food, finally after 11 years he is actually trying it.

He is
struggling with the dry so much. He still eats it I just don't think he

can
stand crunching enough to keep his tummy full. Since I started giving wet

too
he is grazing the dry as usual and wolfing down the wet. Holy bowl, who

knew
there were so many different textures to this stuff. He hates anything

chunky,
sliced or savory. He seems to like the minced or pâté-like stuff. The

big
glop. I keep going to the store to buy more, exchange the one or two cans

of
the trial texture and go from there. The cashier at Petsmart is all into
Dusty's likes and dislikes now.

I will know the results of the tests tomorrow afternoon. I am a little
scared... Dusty has just been so darn healthy and now seems to be falling

apart.
Good thing is he didn't lose any more weight over the week, he was

actually up a
bit. He is so bony. I miss cuddling with my plump, muscular kitty.
